Hi guys,
So today I noticed when I first pulled the clutch lever on the bike (to start the bike), the lever felt a bit "stuck"; then I heard a metal-like, tiny "clunking" sound.  While the bike was still in neutral, I shifted to first gear.  All of a sudden the bike jerked and stalled.  Basically, it felt like pulling and holding the lever to neutral is not working.  I think what happened was that the bike was not engaging neutral despite me pulling the lever.  Any ideas?  The bike is fine after this incident though but I've also previously noticed the "sticky" clutch when I first pull the lever after the bike has sat for a while.  Any ideas?
			
			
			
				Mine does the same thing after a few days.
It would be better if it didn't, but it's normal/understandable, so don't worry about it.

Both will make such a problem worse, but it might happen regardless.
			
 
			
			
				The bike has been re-bled recently but it's still happening so I'm not sure if that is it.  But who knows... it might be worth a try to bleed it again.
Stopintime, how many miles do you have on your bike?  Has this been happening since you bought the bike?  BTW, mine is also an '07 S2R 800, I have about 2,500 miles.

Mine is closing in on 40K miles.
Changed the clutch plates at 16-17K and doing it again now.
Original master and slave cylinder.
New fluid three times.
It has been like this since day one and the way it happens hasn't changed over the years.
My lever was previously a little off, but has ever since been perfectly adjusted for freeplay and correct engagement/disengagement.
It didn't change the clunk and sticking plates though.
That's why I think it's nothing to worry about.
Annoying yes, but not worrying.
			
 
			
			
				Thaks Stopintime.  I was hoping it's just due to my bike having low miles.  From what you say though, mileage is not the culprit.  hmmmmmm.

I'm not sure there is a culprit.
Sticky plates are normal.
Maybe there's a fix for the clunk, but since it hasn't become worse I don't worry.

True.  By the way, what oil do you use?  Maybe a specific oil can help with the sticky plates.
			
 
			
			
				Shell and Castrol synthetic, Motorex semisynthetic - no differences.
			
			
			
				Happened with my 620 since day one as well.  I would just pull in clutch and rock the bike back and forth before starting to make sure everything was free.

Thanks!  That's what was recommended to me as well.  Also, putting it in 2nd gear and rocking it back and forth before starting.
			
 
			
			
				Another +1 on the rocking back and forth in gear to loosen the plates.  Happens a lot if you are an all-weather rider like I am.

				Never had a lurching problem, just the very very mild problem getting into neutral on my '05 800 with 23k on the clock.  I dunno what the last guy used as far as oil goes, but I've had nothing but full synthetic Motorex in it since I got it at 11k.  Stock/original clutch plates, as far as I know.
