Title: Looking for ECU -998
Post by: masterh on July 07, 2011, 03:17:33 AM
My 998 didn't start after sitting for a while.

dealer said ECU is bad. because of that, it doesn't spit out the fuel.

I won't pay $1700 for new ecu.

I keep checking on ebay but no luck yet.

any place I can call to see if they have used ones?

Get a second opinion.  There is no reason short of your bike being struck by lightning or caught in a flood for an ECU to fail while a bike is not in use.

Jumping from a car battery will not hurt anything unless the car is running.  Even then, probably not.  Like I said, get a second opinion.

That is how my 996 ended up with a new ecu...

the polarity reversing was not by my hand however.

I wish I could get a second opinion. they picked up with their van. I don't think I can ask them to take it to the other shop.

I am sure those japanese bike shops will get scared as soon as they hear the word 'it's ducati'

I wanted them change sprocket. they said they don't work on ducati (can't i believe) I convinced them by saying it's freakin sprocket, what do you have to do other than turning some bolts?
