Title: s2r + bar risers = not work
Post by: Ohm3d on July 08, 2011, 07:40:59 PM
I got some bar risers and went to install em and the brake and clutch line are too short, and it seems the wiring too.... has anyone else encountered this?

Some models have this problem, others don't.

It's not possible to be sure in advance.

Usually people are able to find other routings for the wires and lines - tried that?

I cant reroute the brake lines and the wires are just long enough for the stock set-up  :(

I just put tall bars on the wife's 620 so have a few ideas - loosen the banjo bolt at the MC and point the line down, this will give more space than you think, also take care to see that the lines are routed though the headlight area as cleanly/directly as possible and that the line has not slipped down toward the caliper in its holder at the lower triple.

For the wires check out the routing and see if there's any space there.

You may have to route the throttle cable along the outside, not tidy, but works.

'06 S2R800, Risers from MonsterParts... Only thing I had to do was loosen (NOT REMOVE) the banjos on each reservior and rotate slightly. no issues in the 3+ years they've been on the bike.

I realize... loosen the banjos just enough to turn them.. but will that allow any air into the brake and clutch line?

Not if you are careful, worst case you bleed the brakes.

Love your risers... taller than the ones I have. I'm glad the loosening advice panned out.

Now go ride.

I just received my risers from MCMOTORPARTS off EBay. They look just like the ones you put on your S2R. I too worried whether or not they would work because they are a little bit taller than the Rizoma's, etc. I am also shorter than most riders so I went with the taller risers.

Fearing a problem I immediately turned to the DMF Tech Section and oila! You got to love this Forum.  [bow_down] Thanks everyone. By the way, my new tank is waiting for me at the dealer. Thanks for that too. [thumbsup]
