Title: ECU to gauge connections
Post by: suzyj on July 09, 2011, 06:55:31 PM
Hi guys,

Just wondering what the Body 9 and body 13 pins on the ECU do.  They're connected to pins 18 and 8 of the gauges, but otherwise go nowhere else...

Cheers,

Suzy

the wiring diagram for my s4 says

Body9 tach out
Body13 warn lamp

maybe thats the ecu fault light ?

i remember seeing in the past when researching gauge clusters that someone changed their gauges and they had a pinout diagram of the gauge connector

there will prob be some more info on the subject if you have a search around

Thanks for that.  It confirms my suspicions that there's nothing magical about the comms between the ECU and gauges - all you need to do is give the gauges a tach signal, and they're happy.  I guess the CEL light drive is optional.

Here's what I have so far, from scouring the wiring diagrams of the 695, S2R 800, S2R 1000, 999, & 998.

Although each connector has 38 pins, only 20 from each are actually used (at least on those ducs that I checked).  This is cool, because it means that the ultra-weird connectors used for the ECU can be replaced with much more manageable ones.  My preference at the moment is 2 x 23 pin Ampseal connectors.

Alas there's more to be driven and sensed than pins available on a standard microsquirt.

The wiring colous are from the 695 diagram - I didn't check whether the wiring colours for other models are the same.

Body Colour Function

1 R/Bk Solenoid drive - active low.

4 R/B +12V from fuse 4 - 5A ECU power.

6 Bn/Bk Injector relay coil - active low.

7 O/B Keylock - to pin 15 of gauges.

8 Gr/Bk Headlight relay coil - active low.

9 G Tach out - to pin 18 of gauges

11 Bk/B O2 sensor - pin 4 - heat

13 B/Y Warning lamp out - to pin 8 of gauges

14 G/Bk Fan drive - fan on when grounded (999 only)

16 O/W Diagnostic connector pin 3

17 R/G Keysense - Switched +12V - on when keyswitch is in on position

20 R/W MPXCAN+ (999 only)

Is microsquirt fuel only or does it do fuel  ignition like the MS2 board?  Im guessing your looking to run the bike on a microsquirt ECU?  I would not worry to much about the pin outs of the factory ECU compaired to what the MS board has available as they use different methods for determining fuel demand.  I think there was someone who ran a 907ie on megasquirt on the msruns board awhile back.  Other than the crank sensor setup & the maps everything else should be the same for the install.
