Title: 696 Termignoni slipons - Baffles in or out? Post by: theprocess on July 13, 2011, 08:27:28 PM Ive noticed that with the baffles in my 696's throttle is a lot smoother below 4k rpm and less backfiring/popping. When i had them off it didnt like being under 4k rpm, shook pretty badly at times and backfired whenever I let off the throttle. Bonus, my neighbors will hate me a little less because of the noise reduction [thumbsup]. All things considered, I think the baffles are staying in permanently (taking them out in the first place was a real p.i.t.a. also).
Anyone know if Ducati/Termignoni set the ecu for use with baffles or without or either? Wondering if there is any difference in performance. Title: Re: 696 Termignoni slipons - Baffles in or out? Post by: ungeheuer on July 14, 2011, 03:01:01 AM I find it interesting because I detected absolutely zero performance difference baffles in or baffles out when I had Termi slip ons on my 696. The only thing that changed was the noise level. I think the popping on decel is the same, its just way more audible with the baffles removed.

Without baffles I needed to richen it up substantially, with baffles was pretty similar to stock to get same results. This is definitely unscientific, but my experience. YMMV.

For me, without baffles was just too loud for daily commuting. Makes sense. With the baffles out, one has significantly less back pressure, probably a little less engine braking as well. I'm glad you brought it up, with mixture adjustments, there will be a difference, slight, but nonetheless. Now if someone can do a dyno run, it would be awesome. As far as the noise, I put mine back in as well, my neighbours are good people, don't need them being otherwise. There is a Harley owner that likes to rev it on weekends or whenever he feels like listening to it echo through the townhouse complex, I know how people feel about him. Commuting i went back to more back pressure less noise. |
