My 2004 S4R runs rough at constant slow speeds, 30 to 45 mph. It is annoying when riding in town. The bike has lots of power and runs fine during acceleration and higher speeds. The rough running is independent of the gear I'm in or the rpm. 3,000 to 4,500 doesn't matter, it will still be rough with hesitation. Snyder in Desmoquattro Maintenance and Modification Guide suggest a failing pickup coil can cause such a problem. Any other ideas on what may be cause and fix? Is there a test for a pickup coil?
How many miles on the bike?
Last valve clearance adjustment when?

The bike has a around 21K miles and the last valve adjustment was done at 18K.
I'm giving this thread a bump. Someone must have an idea or has experienced a similar issue. The hesitation seems to be an occasional misfiring.
my bike does it too , even at fast take offs it might spit for a split second but its doing it alot less that i pluged the open nipple on the intake runner ....totaly fells like something electrical causing it .
Thanks! This is tough one which is why I turned to the DMF. Ain't nothing this group can't figure out. Common guys give us some ideas [clap] [popcorn]
Are you still running the stock ECU? If so, that could be your problem. Read uglyducky's thread about the same thing.
