So out for a ride today, I went to pass a car and ran into a problem. When I twisted back on the throttle, it just spun, not freely but not how it normally fells. I was able to spin it quite a bit without any response. This happened a couple of times. Not only during quick throttle, but sometimes just cruising it felt like I had to keep adjusting my grip to turn the throttle more to keep the bike moving.
Any idea what this could be. Or am I not making any sense?
Don't see how it can really spin freely with out something giving way.
Is it possible that the grip is slipping on the throttle tube?
I thought about that after my ride. Unfortunately I haven't been able to ride since Sunday to test it, but after the ride I poked around and did notice that the rubber grip on the throttle is loose, and does spin freely, not a lot, but def noticeable.
So, I am hoping that is the case. It's been Africa hot here, so I'm guessing the heat has just heated up the glue that holds the rubber in place, and ruined its hold.
Any fix for that, or am I going to have to buy a new grip?
Looks like the rizoma grip came unglued from the plastic sleeve under it that hooks to the throttle cable. It's been Africa hot here, and I think the heat just melted away the glue. Tried to glue it back on, but I guess I have the fastest setting glue ever made, because the glue dried while the grip was halfway down the sleeve. [bang]
Threw the stock one back on. Not as pretty, but worked. Now I gotta try and find a spare rizoma. [popcorn]
