Title: Fork internals

Fork internals
I have got my hands on the damper rods and cartridges from Showa 748 front forks they are much better quality with full rebound rods to the cartridge unlike the ones in my S4 which are cheap and nasty with no rebound circuit at all but will they fit ???????

Not exactly.

They will bolt in.
The bottom adjuster-bolt will fit the cartridge.
The rebound adjuster assembly that screws into the top cap will fit.

But the overall length of the damper rod/cartridge is too long.
It will bottom out internally before the fork slider bottoms out against the cap.
And that would be bad.

I've got a set of 748 internals myself, and as time permits I've been trying to find a relatively easy way to make them fit.

would it not be possible to shorten the damper rod and re thread it

I *think* that will work.

The rebound adjust rod would need to be shortened as well.

Too much hassle ..think a set of 996 forks will be a better easier option
