I know this has come up ad nauseum before, but bear with me.
Basically, around how much should I expect to pay for a 15k service (06 S2R).
My understanding is that it is basically the 7.5k service plus probably belts.
I dropped by the local dealership the other day to get a quick quote - the figure I got was $1100-1300... I thought I did a good job keeping poker face when inside I was basically you gotta be shitting me.
Where are you located? It might help people recomend good dealers/independant shops that do good work for a fair price.
Wow that's pretty brutal for a 2v. I had DucPond do a similar service interval, plus having the heads off for a couple hours of port and polish work on each. If memory serves that came to about $1100 with parts, that included belts, a couple shims, oil and cleaning up a leaky clutch slave.
Besides regional differences (hourly labor can easily double or more when you go from rural America to the big cities) the 15 K service is not always consistent from shop to shop. Some include a brake fluid change, some charge extra. Some change fork oil, some don't. Some charge a basic labor rate for the valve clearance check and additional for each valve, some just have a standard charge. When comparison shopping make sure you are not comparing appleas and pears.
here in pittsburgh, i had my bike in for my 6000k PLUS state inspection, and got out the door for around $500. INCLUDING a belt change due to the age of the belts.
they did/checked EVERYTHING, no valve shims required though. (shims are $30 per)
remember that depending on what else you may be replaceing if they are asusming things like, tires/chain, etc are to be changed at the same time.
but 700-900 for just a 15k service with no new tires/chain, etc might be reasonable, i know that each time i go in for a service by chance my tires are worn out every 7-8k miles so that always adds on 300-400 onto my bill. and soemtimes the chain is the same time, so it adds up.
This thread makes me glad I can do my own service.

Did that quote you got include belts?

good points, I did not really pin them down on the specifics (was kind of in shock). I'm sure that figure definitely did not include tires, but probably at least belts. Chain would be another couple hundred extra probably.
We charge 6 hours @ $75 per hour (plus $1 per hour for shop supplies....so $76) for a 15k service for a Monster (slightly more for faired two-valvers unless the owner removes the fairings before bringing his bike to the shop), plus parts. The belts are removed at the 7.5k service, too, so that's no labor adder. There are several things on the 15k list that account for the extra two hours, however (we charge 4 hours for a 7.5k). Steering head bearing adjustment, changing brake and clutch fluids, checking the prefilter, etc. You can find the full list of service items for each service on Ducati's website.
Doing this on a labor + basis lets the customer choose his own belts (we recommend Exact Fit belts from California Cycleworks, but some folks are dead-set on OE belts), oil, filter, etc.
Typical cost for a full 15 service including parts on an S2R should run in the $700 range if you don't need an excessive number of shims, retaining rings, or other consumeable parts. This includes Exact Fit belts, oil, filter, new gaskets for the drain plug and prefilter, labor, and a couple of shims. Tires, brake pads, and other things, if required, would increase this price, of course.

last year i got my ducati .. was ready for its 6k service.. personally had no idea what it needs and never worked on bikes b4 . with the help of the ppl here , the haynes manual
and the desire .. i did everything myself on the winter and now im enjoying the summer.. ;)
I was quoted somewhere in the neighborhood of $800 for the 7.5k service from my local dealer for my 696. I'm only at 6k now but I wanted to know what I was in for.
