Anybody know for sure what ecu is used on the new Monster 1100? I've got one coming in for service and I need to make arrangements to kill the service message and reset the TPS if it's not a Marelli unit.
Siemens ecu
I think the Siemens ECUs on new Monsters self-reset every time the key is turned on. Part of what allows the owner to install the Termi kits at home themselves. You might be able to reset the service indicator by pushing some buttons on the cluster just like the Marellis.
Figures. I ordered Centurion Pro Europe a couple of weeks ago and told them I didn't need a Siemens cable 'cause I've never serviced a bike with a Siemens ECU.
That's OK.....they can't reset the "Service" message 'cause it requires a "password" according to the fine folks at Technoresearch. They're working on a hack.
Thanks, guys.
I just got off the phone with the folks at Technoresearch and they tell me they have overcome the technical issues with the Siemens ecu and that they will issue an update shortly that interfaces correctly with them. If you already have a VDSTS or Centruion package you'll need to order a cable specifically for the Siemens ecu, but it looks like another one bites the dust!
He also tells me that they're working on the Mitsubishi units now (Diavel and Multistrada 1200), so a solution should be on the way for them, too.
Happy day! :)
That would be nice indeed for the Multi12.
to reset the tps on the new monsters, all you need to do is cycle the key on and off 3 times... not actually start the bike, but turn the key, let the messages scroll, turn off and repeat 3 times.
I'm told that even with the key cycle, there can be some amount of baseline drift, so a computer reset is needed occasionally. I can't confirm the veracity of this assertion, but it's what a dealer tech told me when I had this unit reset.
I got a 2011 1198 SP in Saturday and it apparently also has a Siemens ECU. Hopefully the patch will come soon!
