Over the last couple days I have been noticing/hearing a clicking sound coming from the front end of the monster. The frequency of the clicking is proportional to the speed of the bike. I mainly notice it when Im rolling to a stop at lights or when backing the bike out of the garage.
Any thoughts on what the cause may be? Would love some feedback to determine if I'm going to have serious mechanical issues if I ride the bike back home/to the shop. If this is something minor I could also see myself just wrenching on it at home.
Thanks
How sure are you about it coming from the front?
If the noise is influenced by wether or not it's in gear or clutch in/out - it could be something other than the front...
Do you have a front stand or can get someone to lift the bike while you get on your knees and listen?

About to get someone to lift the bike up by the frame and have a listen.
It has been hot as hell here lately. I live in DC. Feels like 110 today. What else would cause it to click?
I have heard the clicking when bike is in gear and when its in neutral
OK .. lifted the front end up and gave the wheel is spin and didnt hear the clicks. But then rode it home and heard it while coasting, both in neutral and in gear with clutch engaged.
How old is your chain?
BTW... its a 2007 695 and has about 11K miles on it. Last oil change was a few weeks ago and havent done any other work to it.
OF NOTE: I have had some issues starting the bike as of late. Started about 2 months ago when I installed the scorpio alarms system.
Bike has died and been unable to start a few times. Going to try to figure out whats wrong with it this coming week. But I can jump the bike and be fine. Usually ride it home and throw it on the trickle charger and its good to go. When jumped it turns over and starts telling me its likely not to be the starter. Once ridden for a while and turned off, it will start up again, telling me the battery is being charged. So hopefully its just the battery or the alarm is goign off at night or when parked and draining the battery.
Dont know if the problems are connected. To me it seems unlikely, but then again Im not a professional mechanic. Shit, Im not even an amateur mechanic.

few years. had some extra play in it at last oil change. tightened it and greased it up.
Check your chain and sprockets. Charge your battery and get it load tested.
Rock stuck in your tire tread? [cheeky]

HAHA. the funny thing is I did find a small U shaped piece of metal in the tread this morning. Unfortunately not the cause of my clicking
If the battery is in it's last stages, the Scorpio can push it over the edge (I know).
My vote goes to the chain/sprocket advice.
(get the boys back for a rear end lift and spin the wheel)(get cold beer)

Gonna go get a load tester tomorrow. On the trickle charge tonight.
Lifted back end and spun wheel around. NO clicking sound. Thoughts?

............... Thoughts?
It's not easy to figure these things over the internet.
Maybe you should take it to a mechanic?
