So.. Colemans just quoted me ~$400 (which apparently includes 1 hr of labor for diagnosis) :o to change out my battery and fix some idling issues on my bike. Which I think is a bit crazy. Want to get the bike back on the road as soon as possible. Gonna go pick it up from them today.
The things is, I moved to DC with bare minimal stuff. Most of my tools etc are still in NC.
Would really appreciate it if someone were to lend me some space/tools/watchful eye while I do the above mentioned and some other minor work (flushing clutch & brake).
Lunch/Beers on me
where are you located?
What year/model, and do you have a way of getting the bike to northeast Baltimore? If so I always have garage time for wounded Ducs, and I have all the tools required for the work you've described (though I've never adjusted idle, if you're FI and it requires a special tool you're SOL at my place).
Idle on EFI is just adjusting the bypass screw and balancing the throttle bodies. It can be done with any carb balance tool.
I have some tools, a haynes manual and I'm willing to help with the wrenching, but all my space is currently taken up by this:

Mike (aka extra330 on the forum) might be able to help. Also if you're in the market for a new battery I would suggest a Shorai: cost about $150 but you drop some 7/8 lbs. [thumbsup]

Im in DC, H St area.
I decided to have Rafael just fix the idling issue and check a few other things since I'm gonna have to pay Coleman anyway, adding an extra half hour of labor. Gonna pick up a battery today. Will check out the shorai. Do some battery research when I get back to the office.

nice.. above buddha bar? know a couple people who live in that building. heard you guys have a nice rooftop deck
Rafael seems like a good mechanic , and knows a lot. Helped me out few times . But I think coleman is expensive , but could be because of the location.
I'm in the building next door to that (Madrigal Lofts). Our rooftop is pretty nice, but their rooftop is definitely better.

Across Mass from Buddha. The building you're talking about has a great rooftop deck, but you pay through the nose for it. Mine isn't quite as big and doesn't have art hanging all over it, but gets the job done with plenty of seating, BBQ grills, a sun deck and pool.

I don't know what you're talking about. Neither of my exhausts is loud...they're VERY loud. [laugh] I try to be quiet...really I do
n't! [evil] Sometimes I can't help myself. It's such a great concrete canyon on 4th between Mass and I...almost as good as ripping through the 395 tunnel. ;D

At one point, I sort of made it a game for myself - We'll call it the
See If You Can Hear Jim Going By game. It went a little something like this:
(Me watching tv on the couch)
Jim's bike: "VRRRRooooooooooommmmmmm".
Me: "I think that sounds like a Ducati."
(Peers out window down toward the stop light)
Me: "Yup, that's him."
(Thinking to myself that my bike hopefully sounds that good too)
For some reason I don't think I have ever spotted you on your Daytona though.

I'm pretty certain you've never heard the Daytona because you pass out from the exhaust-induced concussion! [laugh] [laugh]
Do you look toward the I St corner stop light or the Mass Av corner stop light? (I need to know where to rev appropriately ;D)

I'm happy to do so as soon as it cools off...unless I get to come up for a drink every couple of laps or so. [beer]

I'm sorry been out riding and have not been on the forum in awhile did someone say something about loud exhaust? Oh that's right I got religion and put baflles in but I could pull them out, course last time I did that I lost to an old guy withn an old bevel, actually he might be younger than me, beat me by 1 db at 25' I think it was 117 vs 116. Still the S2R sounds pretty good on the track with the baffles in just not as deep as a bevel. - Gene
I don't know Gene, that triple thunder system Jim has on the Daytona is spine tingling. He just may have you beat. No where near as deep sounding though...
Can't wait to hear it then. - Gene
You only get the full effect when it goes by turning at least 11K rpm. [evil]

then he'll never get the effect, because Gene isn't easily passed and doesn't sit still long enough to listen to exhaust unless he is parked smoking a cig while waiting for Jim to catch up!...then once he finishes...he'll make his way back past Jim and let him hear the S2R Mega's on his way by at full tilt song.
