Title: Crows foot torque calc...
Post by: TAftonomos on July 30, 2011, 05:26:19 AM
Alright you smart fellers, need to confirm something.

I'm too cheap to buy the ducati head stud tool (bent wrench for $150), so I'm just going to make my own.

I'm going to make a crows foot wrench so I can tighten these down

IF I use a 90 degree and from the torque wrench to the crows foot, won't the torque reading on the wrench be accurate ?  Since the torque wrench isn't increasing the distance from the fastener, shouldn't it be the same.

You forget what you don't use......

As long as you don't change the oal the reading will be accurate.

If you need to change the length the formula is here...http://www.engineersedge.com/manufacturing_spec/torque_wrench_1.htm (http://www.engineersedge.com/manufacturing_spec/torque_wrench_1.htm)

Grind the box end as necessary to get it to fit over the nuts.
