Anybody have a spring compressor? The one I rented at autozone won't fit in the spring spaces...
don't have spanner either (why did I give that back to Massimo?!?)
Off to the home depot to see what I can rig...suggestions appreciated.

You can come by and pick it up anytime! See, if harbor freight had those for 7 bucks I would definitely get a couple! [laugh]
If you take it by MRP, they popped my spring off for me and back on, no charge (full disclosure: I had also just placed a decent sized order with them, but Nick made it clear that little stuff like that they're glad to do).
Just so you guys know...you suck as tool librarians! ;D
I managed to get the spring off with my home made compresser:
Imagine if you will, a steel parking bumper thing that protects a PVC pipe in my parking garage with the shock balanced in the 90 degree bend and two harbor freight ratchet straps compressing the spring by pulling it down against the bumper. It wasn't a pretty sight and I was afraid for my life (well at least my eyes) because I could hear the straps twanging with each ratchet tightening. [laugh] Had I known the release would be worse, I may have avoided this and waited the 3 days that all the shops quoted me when I called to see if they could do it.
I did take a trip out to clinton to pick up the only shock spanner in stock...it was a real POS at a highly inflated price, but I own one now. It's one of those make the beast with two backsed up ones like this one:

It does work though...
Anyway, I'm cooling off then gonna take it for a spin and see if it falls apart. [laugh] [laugh]
