We were living in Austin when the zombie alert sign was up.

Ha, pretty good.  I saw in downtown Houston a hacked lighted sign that just said "POOP".

When I was in college, before there was no smoking everywhere, there was a sign in my physics dept that said

THANK YOU
FOR NOT
SMOKING

someone very artfully made an adhesive "P" and stuck it over the "N" in NOT.

Much hilarity ensued.  No one ever changed it the entire 4 years I was there.

Oh, I dunno... I find that more often than not the public safety signs aren't giving me relevant, up-to-date information anyway. They may as well amuse me. [roll]

+1  especially given that most of those signs are to get you to slow down.. what could slow you down more than a sign saying WATCH OUT FOR ZOMBIES

ok,.....some perspective...

we have some major highway paving going on where i live, grooved pavement, uneven lanes. when it first started, they had all kinds of regular signage. the FD still had to scrape 3 motorcyclists off the highway in our response area alone, plus a bunch of cage accidents.

however, since they added the electric signs, we have not had another accident out there. and i know its not that folks are just used to the construction now, since all the traffic is out of state tourists this time of year.

coincidence? maybe..

I don't condone the hacking, but I did slow down and laugh
