Title: 30 service men killed and boo to CNN
Post by: Monsterlover on August 07, 2011, 04:28:37 PM
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/08/07/afghanistan.fatality/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 (http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/08/07/afghanistan.fatality/index.html?hpt=hp_t2)

RIP to them all

And as far as CNN goes...

I was just watching this on CNN and they were interviewing a widow who, obviously, was very upset.

It really bothered me - the questions they were asking her.

Anyone watching already knew the answers.

They just wanted a crying woman on the phone.

I had to change the channel.

[thumbsdown] to CNN

:'(   to the families who have lost

I hate the news.  Am also addicted to it.  Just have become more choosey as to the talking heads I watch/listen to and the networks.

RIP to those who sacrificed and condolences to their family and friends.     :'(

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."  Gen. G.S. Patton

Link is not working for me, but since it is CNN, I don't need to see it.

Good men are sacrificing every day for a real cause... not for your ratings.

I've got a big make the beast with two backs YOU going out to most media outlets.

While I find CNN's coverage a bit discomforting, I am glad that Mrs. Vaughn got to say what she did.

There are a good number of people, many of whom are in the media, who want to portray military folk as extremists or vicious types or simpletons.  Look at portrayals of SEALs in film, for instance.  Anyone remember the film The Abyss?  The SEALs were portrayed as psychopaths.

It must be very frustrating for some to come to grips with the fact that these guys loved their families and their country and aren't sitting around looking to drink blood.

Anyone notice the ink that he has on his left forearm?

To all media outlets...

There were more than just the SEALs onboard.

I guess the others don't matter.

Even on our local channels, no mention of our own two hometown heros.

A pic is now circulating around our unit:

CW4 Carter's wife and kids, the last time they saw him.

He wasn't a SEAL, just a good Christian husband and father doing his job.  No media value there.

Irrelevant information removed.

I've also noticed that the SEAL's are getting most of the attention, which is sad. What else is new when it comes to the news agencies though.  :-\

And then there is no news about my Brother in law and his platoon
being blown up by an enemy grenade Friday.

I was just talking earlier about the rest of the story with some my crew.

What about the Ranger Bn that they were going in for?  Were they pulled out safely?  What about their losses?  Lets hear the whole story.

News wise, yes, it is irrelevant.  To him, his faith and his family were what were most important.  That is why I specified.

^ Yeah that was my brother in law and you know as much as me.
Brother in law is in a coma with shrapnel in his head, and a bad prognosis.
He's a sniper with the 101st

I am an American Soldier

I am a warrior and a member of a team

I serve the people of the United States

I will always place the mission first

I will never accept defeat

I will never quit

I will never leave a fallen comrade

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and
proficient in my warrior tasks and drills

I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself

I am an expert and a professional

I stand ready to deploy, engage and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat

I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life

I am an American Soldier

RIP Brothers

R.I.P. to these and every other fine American that has lost life or limb fighting for their country.  Always remember that not all of this country only cares about you when the media decides to report on your service, your sacrifice, your dedication, and your bravery.

Our nation used to honor our soldiers all the time,  not just when it is politacally benificial and this sickens me.  Sadly I think this is also a view into our society's direction at the moment.

I will get off my soap box now and mourn for these fallen warriors and their families that are feeling pain and loss on a level most of us can't and won't ever understand.

I'd like to pimp one of my favorite charities:  www.nmfa.org (//http://)

They have a four star rating with Charity Navigator -- over 90% of all income goes to help military families, esp families where a service member has not come home.
