Title: Monster Dark shiney tank fix ?
Post by: jaso1 on August 08, 2011, 02:11:46 AM
Hi all .

Wondering if anyone has de-shined  , ( for lack of a better term ) , a Monster Dark tank back to the matt type finnish other than repainting using matt paint ?

Mine is quiet shiney really and it sort of looks weird , I see pic's of really great condition Dark's with the nice even matt finnish on the tank and look at mine and go Eeeiiikkkkk .

I can repaint it myself down the track and quiet likely will do just that but for now if it is possible it would be cool to try to get it back to standard finnish some what .

How do they even get the finnish matt anyway ?  Is it some sort of special matt 2pack clear or what ?

I've sprayed a fair bit of normal 2pack clear on various stuff and it is stupid shiney right off the gun but this sure isn't supposed to be ?

Pictures? I want to see what you're talking about. It should have a nice, smooth glow to it when it's clean, even though it's a more subdued paint color. I wouldn't call it matte as it does shine a little when well conditioned. What are you going for?

this might help:

maybe you could use the coat that artful uses to make the tank look matte again... but i havent done this at all and dont know the end results.  might want to ask artful for some more detail
