I made a couple of barces for a new set of soft bags I got a couple of months ago. Anyone see some glaring weakness or safety issue I missed with this idea? The braces are made of 12" lengths of 1/2 inch copper water line w/endcaps soldered on and then rattle canned with Plasti-dip.

As they appear to have only one mounting point, I'd be concerned about them rotating. Not sure how tight you have them cinched down, and how likely that is to happen, but it'd be something I'd think about.
They're actually bent out enough that they rest against the vertical tab where the passenger pegs mount. I'll have to check them with the bags fully load to see if they push them in enough to clear those. They're cranked down pretty tight. Thanks for your thoughts. [beer]

My only concern is the material you are using. Copper can become weak and brittle with possibilities of snapping off at the pinch points where they are bolted down. I would recommend stainless steel tubing ( thin wall ) and cap em off with copper or rubber caps then spray.

I was little concerned about using copper, but just doing a prototype and using for a 2 hour trip I think they'll hold up this time. I will be looking for some stainless tho.
