Title: Vibration @ high rpms
Post by: desmodoktor on August 12, 2011, 08:38:12 PM
`02 M750. 9XXXmiles

Hello everybody, hope ya'all are enjoying the summer...  [Dolph]
I have a question.  @ 5000rpms no matter on what gear it is .. i get a high vibration coming from the engine until i shift to the next gear. (obviously the rpms drop)
any idea where the vibration is coming from?

I'd start with a carefull inspection of the chain & both sprockets. Second would be a complete inspection of timing belts & rollers. Last would be a complete oil change looking for any metal shavings.

ok when you say inspect the sprockets and the chain.. thats what? check if they theres a ware on the chain and sprockets? see if the chain is too tight ? (it does this even if its in neutral on the stand)
i adjusted the valves of the horizontal cylinder but not on vertical . maybe thats what it is.. guessing.

Did the vibration start right after you adjusted the horizontal cylinder valves?  If so that's a pretty strong clue that something did not go right with the job and it needs to be rechecked.  I don't think that correctly adjusting one cylinder's valves and not the other would start any sort of vibration problem.

Clutching at straws - motor mount bolts tight?

If it happens in neutral on the stand you can forget the chain & sprockets since they're not moving.  Check the timing belt system.  Maybe a bearing going south or improper belt tension.

will do ! ;)
