Title: sport touring tires
Post by: marsrr on June 18, 2008, 02:13:13 PM
Well I just bought my first ever sport touring tires and I fell a little nervous about them. I have been running performance road tires for a long time and it seams like I'm seeing more st tires out there and was just wondering what you all think? I just ordered dunlop roadsmart tires and I can take a tire pretty much to the edge. so I guess what I'm wondering is what I could expect from these tires?

I've got no Dunlop FHE, but my Diablo Strada was a perfectly fine rear tire.

I didn't treat it any different from a regular Diablo.

Just take it easy on 'em until you get a feel for what they're like.
They may take a little while to warm up, hopefully someone who's actually used those will chime in.

Do check out msincredible's links, your answer may already be there.  ;)

thanx but most of this stuff is about performance tires pilot power diablo 3s  and such I didn't find any real info about st tires I regally ride these types of tire which I prefer but just wonted a little more milage. but I pretty much sport ride in my local mtns no real commute I watched count desmo ride and he was doing JUST FINE [moto] and he was riding st tires so I thought I would try some but I fell like mybe I shouldn't have just unsure of them.

Unless you're a supremely skilled rider I doubt you'll be able to use the sport touring tires to their  extreme on the street. You'll get longer life out of them. I got tired of putting new pirelli performance tires on my tuono and have started running bt-021 and no complaints.

Well, did you read every comment?  There were some about Pilot Road 2's as well as other sport touring tires in there.

I've run Dunlop D220's, Avon Azaro ST (pre-cursor to the new Storm) and Z6's without any problem.  I was running the Z6's on the Monster that day we ran up Silverton and back.  Did it look like I was having any problems? [evil] ;D

hehe, glad I could help you out with the pictures.  ;)

I didn't mean to sound harsh in my previous response.  It is hard to dig through those threads for good info.  Maybe I should set up a tire survey or something.

I'm sure I posted on one of the linked threads.  I'll summarize here:

I have been riding on Diablo Stradas for my last 3 sets of tires.  The majority of my riding is curvy mountain roads riding edge to edge.  No grip problems and slightly better mileage.  ST tires are fine for sporty street riding.   [moto]
