Title: My tachometer does not work
Post by: Yiannos on August 18, 2011, 09:06:38 AM
Hi there,

I am a new meber of this forum. I own a Ducati Monster S4 2002 model and i have a problem with my tachometer. I borrowed my bike to a friend and guess what he crashed (slightly!!!). As a result from that day, except from the fuel tank damages, and some other minor damages my main problem is that my tachometer does not work. More specifically the fuel,  ignition and  high beam, indicators gauges are working. The digital temperature and milage displays are working, the speedometer and tachometer needles are not working. I checked with the local ducati dealer in Cyprus and he told me that i will need a new one and that used tachometers will not work on my bike due to the immobilizer.
To buy a new one will cost me 500 euros.

So, do i really have to buy a new one or is there any other way to fix the problem;

PS. I bought a used one from ebay from USA but it does not work. I have the master key and the code card.

Thank you in advance..

The 2002 S4 instrument clusters cannot be disassembled like on later models.

The immobilizer is preventing you from using the unit you bought on EBay.

It may not seem like it, but 500 Euro is a pretty good price, a new one here in the US would cost nearly 600 Euro.
