Title: My local Ducati Shop stained my Clutch Cover and doesnt care
Post by: The ModFather on August 24, 2011, 01:26:10 PM
Got my 620 back from my local Ducati Dealer (who will remain nameless for now) after the 6K service. They did not repath the fuel venting hose and left it hanging over my clutch cover where it proceeded to drip gas which turned brown and left a big brown stain on my clutch cover which I have not been able to remove. I called the service guys there and the response was: "Thats pretty typical... what do you want us to do buy you a new clutch cover for something so trivial... what was your bike in such great condition that its that noticable, is it some kind of show bike? (sarchasm [laugh])... I dont know what you want us to do try some comet on it"

I did try comet it still didnt come out.  [bang] Any ideas? I think they should address this. At a minimum repaint my clutch cover. It looks pretty ugly like someone took a sh!t on my clutch cover. What would you do? When its your bike its not trivial you know? I'm kinda shocked by how indifferent they are. After dropping that much money on a 6K service I expected a little more uh.. customer service. >:(

If the moderator gives me the okay I'll say who they are  [thumbsdown] but I'm not sure thats allowed and I dont want to violate the forum rules.

They sound like a bunch of assholes. If they messed up your clutch cover, they should either repaint or replace it. If it happens all the time, why don't you see a bunch of ducs with stained covers?

Do you have another dealership near? Take your business elsewhere. [bang]

Let's see this stained cover. Do you have a picture?

I'd be ticked as well...Just a thought ,  I would be tempted to try and clean it with some gumout as it was made to get rid of that kind of junk in carburetors, other options may be seafoam? rub it on and let it sit, acetone??

I'd do a test with these on the bottom of the cover, I don't think any will harm the paint but if they do at least you won't see it.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser if those others don't work.  Just remember start off easy on anything you put on there and don't let them sit too long.  It might end up making a bigger problem.

Plenty of ways to get rid of it.

But I agree that you need a new shop.
