The mechanics of the place described which will make you appreciate these pics and videos even more. Like the fact that those guys are bailing over shallow, live coral reef.

Yikes! :o
looking at that pic...that's a whole lot of water that will come down on you if you tank it.
That's sick! I'm friggin jealous!
I'm pretty sure that's the same area that Laird Hamilton rode in Riding Giants. Serious stuff! [bow_down]

The mechanics article was fascinating!! Great photos too.
Seriously skilled surfers man. Brave too.
I've always admired the courage and lack of common sense that those guys have. I grew up surfing in Hawaii and
even the big water we surfed (6 foot) would push you to the bottom and you ate sand. I can only imagine
the power behind those breakers shoving you down to hell. Kinda scary when I think about it a little.

Seriously scary. I got the chance to go to Fiji for work a couple years ago and was able to make it over to Tavarua for a weekend. I grew up surfing South Jersey slop, so surfing Cloudbreak was a serious eye-opener. Needless to say, I sat out on my board a lot more than I actually surfed. The few waves I did get were absolutely make the beast with two backsing amazing, though. But I was scared shitless!
