I'm looking for some help.
I recently installed Rizoma rear sets on my M1100S. In the process I did end up changing my rear brake fluid. I am now noticing, after the bike has been allowed to stand, drops of clear liquid on the inside of the rear wheel rim. They seem to be coming from a small round hole on the bottom of the swing arm, in the very centre (i.e. in line with the axis of the bike and also in line with the rear axil). The drops are completely clear, don't smell and, I think, look like water.
I haven't ridden in the rain for a few days and have ridden since (albeit a short way only). I am worried it could be a leak of brake fluid (I can't think of any other fluids at that end of the bike) so have come here for reassurance (or otherwise). I have checked the nipple I used to bleed the brake and it is dry. There seems to be no change in the level of brake fluid in the reservoir. Most importantly, the brake seems to be working fine, though I am still tweaking the sensitivity on the new rearsets.
The only other comment I would make is that I normally leave the bike on the side stand but have had it on the garage stand to do the work, so this could be something that happens normally but the drops normally fall differently and land on the floor, rather than the wheel, so I don't notice them. Could this just be condensation on and in the swing arm?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Stephen
If it's clear, and doesn't have an oily feel/texture/look to it... It's probably just water...
Condensation, or water trapped in the swingarm from going over a wet road(you said you rode a few days ago in rain, water could easily stay trapped in there during that time).... But other than motor oil, and brake fluid, there are no other fluids to leak on the bike... And it would be really hard to mistake those two for water. I wouldn't worry about it
Thanks. That is what I thought but as I have really stretched my comfort zone (ie filling petrol) doing these jobs I thought some expert advice was warrented.
