Title: busy
Post by: Statler on September 01, 2011, 10:55:54 AM
I haven't been very active as it's been pretty crazy here.  I have luckily been able to ride from time to time... but posting...well...

The law firm has been going through some big changes and some intense negotiations.  This afternoon my partner made public the announcement of her retirment on 12/31.    I'll be even busier now with the transition to being the sole owner.   The case numbers have dropped quite a bit over the last couple years.  Looks like in 2011 we will have represented about 650 children (exact numbr clearly not known until end of year).

The second law firm is progressing through its soft opening.  I have done some cases for friends of friends etc., have the IOLTA acount, malpractice insurance, credit card machine, etc. up and running but I have not been advertising at all.  This will change for 2012.   (even our building is unmarked as of now).

I try to balance the 5-year plan with fun time because if I get hit by a bus tomorrow, overworking myself to misery to achieve the plan wouldn't sound so smart.  But some extra work has paid off so far and a little more extra work now may pay off significantly soon.

Ride fast and ride safe,

Chris

Whew, and here I thought I was busy. Glad to hear you're getting through it, and if you need any help don't be shy.

First though you need to get a sign on that office ;) If only you knew a guy...  [coffee]

Godspeed, Chris! All I can do right now is quote my favorite line from my favorite movie...

I set aside about 10 hours/month for gratis IT work. I typically work with non-profits but will make an exception for a fellow CAMer. Let me know if you need help/guidance/recommendations/etc.

The boat's still in the water for another month or so.

But I did just get something to suck away all extra $ and time.

Duc service and issues got nothing on this:

it's slow(ish).  it's loud.   it's LOUD.  it's hot when it's hot outside and cold when it's cold outside(actually the heat and air work great).  it's unreliable.  it's a challenge to drive well(which I like... no power steering... heavy gated shifter... TINY pedals so far off to the right you sit crooked).

I absolutely LOVE it.   Even Aeryn on her first ride said "make it go faster, Daddy" and giggled when it revved to 7,500.

On day three it dropped (stopped firing) a bank of cylinders (it's like two inline 4s put together.. separate ignitions).   will go by flatbet to Competizione on Tuesday next week.     likely something pretty simple but beyond my time/skill.   Got caught in rain and clearly that found an issue not addressed by previous owner (who took care of any fault but didn;t drive in rain).

It'll be bulletproof(ish) in another two weeks.

I fondle the keys.

It's that much fun to drive.

I am guessing it got there based on getting a thank you text from Val....

met Valenteen and Richard (an owner).   what an incredible welcoming experience.  I am super impressed with that shop and am looking forward to working with them for a long time.

Valenteen came over and greeted me as he started looking at the car.  super professional.   beers on me whenever we can get out.
