I'll be out at Deep Creek (I think?). Would go otherwise.

I'm going Saturday, doing a ride west of there, and staying overnight at Clarion, good bar BTW [beer]. Planning to take the Paso, ride it, then show it  - not because it will win anything but just to show it. Now if the weather will just cooperate, last 2-3 years Saturday weather has been less than good and Sunday has been dicey. - Gene

You think?!?! I'll be there on the Deep Creek ride (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=51945.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=51945.0))

Actually, I forgot the IMF was going on.  Is this anywhere near our route?  We should make it a destination for one of the days.  Possible B?

We could do Saturday on our way out. The Sunday route will take us closer to Morgantown than Martinsburg. (http://d26ya5yqg8yyvs.cloudfront.net/naughty.gif)

Yup!  Looked at the map.  Passing through there leads to the road I remember coming back on from my last car trip to DCL.  I wanted to come back and do that 50/220 route on bike.  NICE!

BTW, I just got off the phone with one of the riders who is a master chef.  He offered to plan and prepare a nice menu for the dinners.

Does this event still exist?  The website hasn't been updated in a couple of years.  The schedule that is posted is for 2011.

No, sadly it does not exist anymore. Attendance was very poor, as usual lots of people talk about riding etc.. until it actually comes time to do it. I do admit the wetaher did not always cooperate and the stink bus invasion was a bit over the top but I always enjoyed the event and supporting Bill Freeman, it is a shame we have nothing in the area now.

That is too bad.  I only made it there once.  Every other year it coincided with vacation or work travel.  The one time I did go, I had to ride through some rain to get there, but it was a good time and worth the trip. I drooled over a nice orange Laverda 3C and some guy named Gene won loudest or best sounding bike or something. ;)

Yes it was the S2R, without the baffles Donnie fabricated, which I took out for the next year's event and lost to Bill Dietz (his old race bike which he still uses) by 1db, interestingly the db level registered by my S2R that year was 2 db lower and Bill won it at the same level I had won it at. My M900 also won at that event, one People's Choice and once Best 2000 forget what years I have the trophys in my new Man Cave. It is a shame the event is gone I had hoped it would be resurrected but at a better Venue. - Gene

what/where would you consider a "better venue" ?

WERA Motorcycle races are that weekend too at Summit Point.  Last race weekend before the Grand Nationals in Birmingham at Barber. 8)

Hmmm, maybe the "better venue" would be at a race weekend?

Well that would not be Summit IMHO. I was thinking more along the lines of the event being something special that would over the years attract more, with good quality, and diversity. You really need a Venue with amenities or some close by for that to happen, not going to happen at a local park I don't think nor at Summit. The lawn up at the pub at VIR would be great but that is way too far away for everyone. - Gene

It wouldn't have to be a road racing venue. It could be dirt track or motorcross.  I don't know the tracks or events in this area, so I have no idea if there is anyplace suitable, just thinking out loud.
