Hello,
2009 Monster 1100 S.
This morning I started her on kickstand wheel pointed straight. High Beam switch OFF. No Lowbeam light and High Beam Indicator illuminated on dash. Turned High Beam Switch on/off... No High Beam. Turned bike off. Turned wheel to left stop.
High Beam Switch OFF. Turn on bike. Low beam illuminates. Try high Beam Switch on. High Beam comes on. Cool.
Mount her up turn wheel straight. High Beam and Low Beam go out. High Beam indicator stays illuminated on dash. Turn High Beam Switch on Handlebar to OFF. High beam indicator on dash still illuminated.
Need to get to work.. Sun is up. I ride off. Make a stop for some quick cash at bank. Soon as I park her rear tire up against the curb, put kick stand down and turn wheel left Headlight comes back on. High beam switch turned on. Highbeam comes on. Turn off bike. Do bank run. Put key in ingnition. Turn bike on. Headlight comes on (low beam), turn Highbeam switch on Highbeam comes on. Mount her turn wheel straight. Both headlights go out. Highbeam indicator illuminated on dash. Turn Highbeam switch off. Highbeam indicator still illuminated on dash. Ride to work. (Sometimes the low beam would come on while riding to work.... I left high beam switch in low beam mode).
Parking in garage at work. While she is still running turn wheel to right to the stop. Headlight lowbeam comes on. High beam comes on when switched on and indicator illuminates. Straighten her up while mounted. Both Highbeam and low beams go out. High beam indicator still illuminated on dash. Turn Highbeam switch off. High beam indicator still on.
Not a burned out headlight: low or high beam.
All other lights work properly: turn and brakes.
Suggestions please.

Wow - did you write all that down or is your memory that good [cheeky]
Sounds like a wire is stretched or pinched.
It shouldn't be hard to find.....
Pull off your headlight and gauges. There's a bundle of wires that rubs on something, can't remember if it's the frame or top triple. I've seen a couple of 1100s with this problem. The new ones have better protection on those wires.
DucNaked and Stopintime,
Dudes,
Thanx for your suggestions. I brought her out to my dealer (Trebour Ducati) in Ledgewood, NJ.
The problem was a wire was slightly pulled from the female headlight connector. The wire was shorting out when the bike was upright. You can see through the translucent connector burned resideue from the shorting.
I took her for a ride West on I-80 to East Stroudsberg, PA , North on 447 to 390 North to I-84 East. US 6 East to Milford, US 209 south to US206 South, NJ 15 South back to I-80 East. A nice late summer run... She never blinked her headlight. :)
