Title: mystery rub marks on S2R rear tire
Post by: lawbreaker on September 12, 2011, 01:20:24 PM
So I get to the office after another lil canyon run on the way into work... I do a lil walk around to inspect my bike (more like ogle it cuz riding her is so darn fun) and notice that I have evenly spaced tic/rub marks along the outer edge of my rear tire on the drive side... all the way around the tire

I check the chain ... right amount of slack
Didnt recall any strange wobbling or funky noise while riding

didnt recall whacking any road debris either..

I'm kinda at a loss as to what the issue thats causing it ???

hub bearings going perhaps ?

any ideas ?

Thanks in advance for any insight/help

( I called my mechanic and left a message a few minutes ago)

Gonna take her in prolly tomorrow

pics if you got em.

Pop it up on a rear stand and spin the wheel by hand. If it's rubbing on something, that should reveal it.
Just thinking off the top of my head, check your speedo cable and rear brake line that run along the swing-arm... see if somethings awry.

whats the mileage on the bike?

Will post pics later ( i'm at work and can't quite get pix up)

Checked both lines and they're still snug and secure with no evidence of abbrasion

bike is rapidly nearing 35,000 miles and i'm original owner [Dolph]

What size and brand of rear tire?
How many miles are on the chain?

Chain. Mine does it too. TIME to replace the chain. I'm in the same boat.
