Hey question for ya'll. Just purchased a termi system from another great member here on the board. We have the same bike S4RS. Is there anything special I have to do with the DP ecu I get from him? Basically is it just plug and play like that or is there something I will have to do to get my bike to work with that ecu?
I'd say you'll have to do a TPS set and maybe a slight trim on the fuel side to get it perfect.
This will require either a scan tool (VDST) or taking it to a bike mechanic.
good luck with it
Thanks. I do agree and realize what you have stated. I am wondering about the whole "married" to a bike deal. The gentleman I bought it from never did this but not sure about the original owner.
your bike has an immobilizer (contained in your gauge cluster), as did the bike the DP ECU is coming out of... i'm no pro, but there may be an issue unless his ecu has had the immobilizer deactivated. again, i'm no pro... i'm not sure if there is a "marriage" sequence that he would have had to do (or NOT do) regarding the immobilizer.
I'm guessing the easiest way would be to swap out my stock ucu with the dp ecu before i go through changing out the exhaust and filter and see if the bike will atleast start. If it does not do any of you know if the dp ecu can be flashed just like you would a stock ecu?
Paigecm,
So are you the 3rd owner of the Termi and ECU? If so, you should be able to plug, reset ECU, and play is the 2nd owner did not marry the ECU to his dash.
If the ECU is marries, then it is either an expensive paper weight or you have to swap dashboard (including odo issue and others) for the ECU to work.
There is no way to un-marry an ECU.
This is assuming a full OEM DP ECU. Aftermarket flashes can/may deactivate the immobilizer function allowing it to be used with any dash.
While I'm no expert using the software, DucatiDiag (freeware-license required) and writer (pay) will let you virginize/flash your ecu thus curing your problem for cheaper than shipping it to one of the flash services here in the states.

You can also reset your TPS and trim afterward...it's essentially vdsts for free after you purchase the $15 cable/adapter.
Well my bike would not start with ehe dp ecu. Sent it to Houston Superbikes for a reflash.
