I twisted off a clutch spring bolt in the stock clutch hub on my 08 s2r. I had no luck with an extractor.
Will it be OK without all the springs?
Any advice on getting it out?
Were to purchase a new one and would it be worth getting a lightweight aftermarket?
With dry clutches there have been forum members that have removed the opposite clutch spring to get even spring pressure when they have snapped a spring post. They seem to get away with it as long as there is no clutch slip.
Some have used 4 stiffer springs.
Is there is a service to do bolt extractions/helicoils nearby? A great service. Some of thede guys are mobile, but you pay. I'll pay the man next time I break an engine stud, instead of doing it myself.. [bang]
Remember, those little bolts dont need much torque, they are under spring pressure. I lube mine with anti seize compound so they come out easy when I want to change clutch plates.
It's a common mistake to overtighten them, or strip a hex head getting them off when they seize on.
I run with only 4 clutch springs and have no trouble with it, the only side effect is a 33 prosent lighter clutch handle pull. [thumbsup]
