Quick question:
Does the DP ECU still utilize the stepper motor equipped Ducati's? I think it does, but just wanted to be sure.
Could someone who knows just throw out a quick "yes" or "no" correct answer to my question, please?
Thanks!
Siemens DP ECU on M1100 still utilizes the stepper motor, yes.
OK, I'll assume then that the Marelli 5AM I have on my DS1000 is the same. Thanks.
YES it uses the stepper motor.

The stepper motor is still in function but I don't think you get a error mesage if you disconnect it.
I was just curious because my idle has been hunting between 400-2000rpm and sometimes gets stuck at ~2500rpm. When the bike is warmed up and I shut down then restart it, the problem occurs. Usually cold starts are fine.
I'd like to keep the stepper if it's still going to work, but it has been sufficiently frustrating already. Taking it out will probably be the only final answer to the idle hunting problem...
Maybe your stepper motor is sticking? If you live in US you can get a hold on the wonder fluid Sea foam. Try inserting it in the tube that goes to the stepper motor while the bike is running.
So did this problem start when you installed the DP ECU? Does the problem go away when you switch back to the OEM ECU?
How about the Exhaust, does it smell normal or rich when the idle is hunting? The DP ECU should be plun-n-play other than having reset the tps and adjust the trimmers.
