Title: Frame Slider - took one off, can't get it back on!
Post by: DucofWestwood on September 19, 2011, 01:20:06 PM
so i was going to remove my speedymoto frame sliders from one bike ('03 620) to possibly move them onto another bike.

i removed the left-side puck and slider support that connects the puck to the engine bolt, no problem.  then, when i try to remove the right-side puck, i turn the hex bolt inside of it, but the whole engine bolt simply turns, and nothing unscrews.

so then i figure i'll just abandon this project and put the left-side puck back on.  however, when i try to put the slider support back onto the engine bolt, it won't screw on.  it seems like they are exactly the same diameter (as opposed to the slider support being larger than the engine bolt which would then allow the larger to screw onto the smaller).

am i missing something on trying to re-install the left-side slider?  thanks in advance!

here is what the left side of the engine bolt currently looks like:

here's the threaded end of the slider support that i'm trying to screw onto the left side of the engine bolt:

it will fit thru the hole where the engine bolt resides, but it won't screw onto it:

if your bike is on the stand, the engine might be sagging just enough that the threads on the engine stud won't engage the puck mount.

you can do the frame slider/engine bolt thing on the kickstand + jack to keep the engine in place

:edit: also, the reason you can't get the right side puck's bolt out is because the entire thing is now free spinning in the frame

thanks for the response Teddy.  i'll give it a try on the sidestand and see if that makes a difference.

if it was on there before, and i didn't lose any parts in the removal process, there has to be a way to get it back on!

I think a jack under the motor for to lift the motor just an itty bitty little bit and release the tension and it will make all the difference!

if it's still on your rear stand, no need to drop it.

some recommend putting something between the jack and the sump to help pad it.  like a notepad, or block of wood, etc.
