Title: 696 GPR Stabilizer & Fat Bar?
Post by: dgm on September 19, 2011, 04:26:34 PM
Here's the deal.. have 2 track days this weekend.  Ordered a GPR Stabilizer from JC Motors.  they sent me the right color, but the unit for the "Fat Bars" of the 1100.  Now, I'm not sure what to do.

I definitely want the stabilizer for the track this weekend.  Will it be any faster for me to get a set of "fat bars" and go that route than to send this GPR Stabilizer back and try to get the right sized one in time?  If I upgrade to the "fat bars" will my controls fit?

...frustrated.

thanks.

Your controls will fit, but you'll need the risers and clamps as well.

That's an expensive way to fix this.....

My suggestion is to try to get the steering damper exchanged. If that doesn't work - go and enjoy your track day anyway. IMO you don't really need a damper unless it's a really bumpy track and/or you had a more powerful bike capable of front wheel lifting out of corners.

Well, the GPR kit comes with the riser/clamp, so I think all I would need is the bar.  I could be wrong.

You're probably right about not needing it most of the time, but my last time on the track I noticed my front end getting real light a few times, which is what made me get serious about a stabilizer.

GPR is going to 2-day me the right bar clamp, so I should have it for the track this weekend.  :)
