IZ has one...he loves it except the camera takes IZ_ photos.

I have the 8310 (same thing, almost) and I love mine.

I've got one but my company locks it down so tight its not any fun. No complaints so far though. Trackball took some getting used to but the layout is nice. Oh, my father has one and says that its hard to see the keys when they are back lit. I told him it was just cause he was old and had bad eyes.

Interesting coincidence:  8330 is the EPA method for analysis of explosive compounds by HPLC.

nah i was makin fun cuz i hate adding anything to a cellphone.  i hate skins, i hate trinkets... all of it.

skins in particular i dont get- they just make the damn thing thicker, and they have that annoying "sticky" texture...

I hear ya re: skins.  But, I know my clumsy self and if I dont use a skin, the thing will be trashed in two weeks.  Hate it when that happens!

Im pumped about this new gadget.  The thing that sold it was the crystal clear pic by IZ.  It MUST be easy enough for me to use!!   [evil]

Regarding skins and cases, check out Seidio.  BryanS, over on the CDC, turned me on to them and they are great.

Blast!  8330s are on backorder!!!

While Im waiting, is there a way to monitor cameras that are mounted in my shop with the 8330?  I was thinking about a wireless surveillance camera setup that I can check remotely......anyone have experience with this?

Tanks!

Thanks for that link.  I just bought an extended life battery from them for my curve (my only major complaint about the device is the battery life, since i leave bluetooth and wifi on all the time).

No worries.  What kind of battery times were you getting?  I leave both on, as well, but have the AutoOff set to shut it down from 10p-5a.  I think I charge my battery every other day, or so.

pretty much the same for me.  i don't use the auto-off.  it's my primary cell phone so it's always on, and at home, i use the UMA feature because i get poor reception.  i really LOVE that feature...

Me, too; I just don't want to talk to anyone after 10.  ;)  What is the UMA feature?  I have good service everywhere, but I'm curious.

it basically allows your cell phone to run over your home wifi network as a VoIP device.  so you don't use your minutes, you just use your exisiting internet infrastructure.  if you have a halfway decent internet service (mine isn't even that good) then it works very well.  Mine works very well  :)

it does the switch (from EDGE to UMA) automagically.

i got an 8330 last month on sprint. so far so good. my first crackberry. previously i was on treo for about 3 yrs. my friend kept hounding me to get a BB so i tried it to shut him up. and it's nice, all the features any smart phone could aspire to be. but after having it for a month and getting used to the way it works, IMO, it's just another phone. i think when you pay good money for a smart phone you'll get good quality no matter which device it is.

oh and the 8330 is not completely mac friendly yet.

BB is supposed to come out with a full, iphone type of screen soon.

Grrr Sprint is saying it might be here Friday and it might not be.......

Went to dinner with a client that had the Blackberry Pearl.  Size was awesome... I could see getting annoyed at the keyboard.....anyone have/use one of these?

the keyboard is indeed teeny.  easy to press the wrong button.  they are also not as quiet as the previous larger dingleberries (clickety clack).

i still like mine.
