What an ass.  "Hayabusa" does not mean "widow maker".  If I remember correctly it means "peregrine falcon".

The Hayabusa is a falcon - specifically one that preys on black birds. It was Suzukis dig at the CBR1100

I was still receiving all the press kits at Chilton when the Hyabusa was introduced.

Suzuki sent us post cards, once a week for a month or so hinting at then new bike.

I believe the particular falcon it is named after is capable of more than 180 mph flight (diving) and that was a claimed part of the tie in for the name.

the guy on the gsxr must be horribly slow...no way that caddy takes him by two seconds on a road course with a decent rider

When they show the GSX-R going around that left-hander, his knee ain't even close to the ground.  They needed better riders on those bikes.  :P

one could say that there could probably be some better drivers in those cars as well... none of them seem like pros...

True,  but it's a whole lot easier to drive fast in a car, than it is to ride a bike at even a moderate pace.

It takes 10 times the skill to ride than it does to drive.  All you have to do is look at all the idiots in cages drinking coffee, putting on makeup, talking, texting, yelling at their kids, all while crossing over three lanes of traffic to make their exit off the freeway.

I was driving on the road at 13 with no prior experience...  You think a 13 year-old who's never been on a motorcycle before would make it more than 10 yards?

Okay, let's say there's top level racers on the bikes and in the cars.  I'd say the bikes take it, depending on the the track.

just my $0.02

Yeah, but that one guy is an ass.

Oh, did I say that already?

The guys on the bikes are not even in a tuck on the track. They are driving like guys coming home on the freeway.

Also, a Cadillac beating a Porsche???

Love at the end of the clip he states how he claims "the guys are going around the track are having fun going fast, safely." Then he jumps on the Ducati only wearing a T-shirt and rides off into the distance.  [laugh]

My thought exactly.  He calls bikes "widow-makers," and then takes off in nearly full squid gear.  Jerk.

And he refers to the braking test results as the difference between a "hit and a miss"  (I think those were his exact words; I'm not going to rewatch that twaddle to make sure).

Yet (and I speak from experience) there are times when a bike can avoid a collision without even slowing down by AVOIDING it altogether.  Whereas a car in the same situation would inevitably hit the other vehicle.

When anyone, such as this guy did, says, "But to show that I'm not prejudiced..." all you need to know is that the person is trying to overcompensate for his bigotry.

The guy is an ass.

There's a whole lotta wrong in that video. ABS vs non-ABS, the fact that it is a lot easier to go fast in a car, the fact that the Diavel is still a cruiser, etc.

That Canuck doucher is an ass. Did somebody say that already?

5 foot 6, gigantic forehead, dowdy glasses, middle-age gut. Hugo Boss t-shirt. The irony!

And he got the Hayabusa meaning all wrong! Totally pulled it out of his 200 year old wrinkled bung. Outrageous. I agree with He Man, burn him.

Canada's all about Montreal and Vancouver; the rest leaves you wondering why.

Well, there's also Victoria, but that's practically Vancouver.

Why why why do we always have these arguments?  If we were to pick out the fastest bike and the fastest car the car would always win.  I would like to what motorcycle can beat out an F-1 car.  The truth is more rubber will give you a faster ride always.  The difference is the best bike will always be cheaper than the car and why bike win.  You can go faster for cheaper.  Unless you can swing it to buy a race car.

If you're going to go on the monetary argument, you have to quantify it. Simply speaking, the amount of money you have to dump on a car to get motorcycle style performance is huge. Yes, the car will eventually be faster when looking at the super cars, but normal sports cars would have a hard time duplicating normal bike performance, given a driver/rider that can truly take them to the limits on the tracks that highlight each ride's better attributes.

And i agree with you, if someone wants to go around a track fast, they have to do it on a bike, becuase a stock bike is faster than a stock sports car.  You get more speed out of your dollar, or peso's (or what every money is in Chile now) on a bike than you would with a car.

The peso doesn't go very far when buying any vehicle. I'm looking at buying a used 696 for just about the same price as a new SF848. It's still cheaper than a comparably performing car.
