We have a so many different threads on where everybody is riding (I think I may have around 5 just about the "33"... :P) I thought maybe we could have just one thread where we all post up and figure it all out?
Anyway, I actually have a Saturday off and kinda miss my old stomping grounds. So, I'm thinking about taking Westlake Blvd --> Decker --> Mulholland --> Snake. Eat breaky @ Rock Store. Mulholland --> Las Virgenes --> Piuma --> Scheuren --> Saddle Peak --> Tuna. Maybe come back up Las Flores, or Encinal, Decker, or even up Mulholland?
Whatcha think, Homies? I haven't ridden with the "Bu Crew" in awhile and it seems like we've got a couple, two, three new members... Let's party!
[bacon]
I'll be at the snake all day Saturday. I come from the South, so PCH -> Las Flores -> Piuma -> Las Virgenes -> Mulholland. I'll be hanging out at the Rock Store in the morning until the weather clears up and then I'll start lapping the Snake.
I'll head back home sometime in the afternoon. Say what's up if you see me and we'll take some laps on the Snake.
Why limit yourself to one overcrowded, squid-riddled, Harley choked, cop infested, 2 mile stretch of road? :-* ;)
I'll probably get to the Rock Store around 7-7:30am for breakfast before all the clowns show up, then a lap or two before it gets crowded before heading out to nicer (in my humble opinion) roads. [Dolph]
I'll be on a black bi-posto 999, black leathers, silver helmet with a "Cars Suck" sticker on the back... ;D
[bacon]
Postpone your trip by 2 hours. Saturdays aren't busy and it'll be cold up there in the morning.
I'll buy you lunch/beers/whatever if I'm wrong.
Last couple of Saturdays have been empty as hell and trust me... The cops have moved from te snake to all the other places you're planning to ride (especially mulholland right before and after the snake... Where people live.)
So, 9am at the Rock Store, then? I'm game... [thumbsup]
I'll see ya there. [Dolph]
[bacon]
Yeah, I'll be there at ~9:30. I'm grabbing a friend on the 405/Rosecrans at 9.
The marine layer doesn't burn off til ~11:00 so we chill and ride a few warm ups, stop and clear rocks if there are any, and then wait for the SUNNNNNN to really start having fun.
See you there. I'll be in a white and black suit tomorrow with my usual neon yellow gloves and boots and the black S4RS. I'm 27 with kinda long hair, (ie not your typical Ducati owner) so don't ignore me like all the other douchebag Duc owners up there... haha!
Right on...
I'll see ya then...
[bacon]
$Lindz$...
I'm going back to bed. [thumbsdown]
Woke up with a wicked headache and sore throat. :P
I hope to catch up with ya another time.
Have fun, ride safe... [Dolph]

Aw man. I just got home. I got to the Rockstore at 10, thought you ditched me cuz I was a little late. Like I said, it got warm and sunny about 11 and I had an awesome day. Though it was interrupted... there were 3 crashes today. 2 squids and 1 guys just pushing too hard up top. Nothing super serious, but definitely more than I've been around for before.
Gonna head back tomorrow, since our original Sunday riding plans got scrapped.
Get better... see you next time!

What time are you going up tomorrow? Wait, I guess you're not gonna get this till the morning. [roll]
Post up here anyway, if you can, I'll see if I can meet you there.
Heading up there soon. Probably be there around 11. Kinda late start today. Haha.
Hey dude, is that you that I met at the Rockstore yesterday? I was looking for the green DSS Monster but then I kinda remember reading somewhere that you got an S2R800.
Anyways... if it was you, sorry for not mentioning DMF. It feels SO weird to introduce your internet self in real life. I thought whoever it was would have recognized me from having a girl's name and all...
If it wasn't you, then I guess I missed meeting up with all the DMFers that were up there (or weren't) this weekend. Again.

Ha, yeah that was me!
I always feel the same way, it seems somewhat silly mentioning the screen names in person. I actually didn't put 2 and 2 together until I got home and saw a pic of your bike again. Next time it won't be so awkward!
Conversation with other Monster owners:
Nice Monster! You on the DMF? (if answer is yes) I am too! I'm "insert screen name here".

A word from the wise.... ;)
How you been Robert?
That's how Robert and I first met at the turnout at Scheuren/Stunt/Saddle Peak with my friend Juliet. She's another Monster rider, but not on the board...

Whos down for a Boo ride on sunday Oct 2nd? Lindz? Bacon? Orange? [beer]
Bike is still INOP...screwed up the head cover re-install after the valve adjust (prolly nudged one of the seals loose; oil pumping out of the #2 plug well) and have to start that over, and need a new rear tire (ordered a Pilot Road 3 yesterday).
Me and a pal are heading up the 2 to Newcomb's on our way to Big Bear.

Sure thing. I'm gonna be riding Saturday too.
I don't have an all-black suit anymore. Now it's white with black. But I've got the same neon yellow gloves and boots, black S4Rs with chopped Termi cans.
I've stopped going up so early because of the autumn marine layer that doesn't burn off til like 11. So yeah, usually up at the Rock Store by 10 or 10:30.
Sounds good lindz! i might be a little too hung over from tonights activities to make it there around 10 tomorrow morning....but i will definitely meet up with you around that time on sunday morning unless it rains.....ill keep on the lookout for ya....im riding a black with red offset stripe monster with highmount remus exhaust! hope to see you out there! [thumbsup]
Just a slight change of plans... I'll be up there a little later 11-12ish and I won't be on a Duc! Look out for a rashed up red '07 R6. And a tall dude in white leathers with a bunch of neon.

Oh yeah, the LONG way to Big Bear!!! Hope you had a good ride Sean! Used to love that way to BB... Highway 2 to Lone Pine Canyon Road to 138, across the 15 to Silverwood Lake, up the mountain to the 18, then over to Running Springs and Big Bear. Icing on the cake is heading back via 38 to Mentone.
Didnt see you up there today Lindz.....was a great day up at the snake....tons of bikes though....
Well Today i joined to knee dragging club....was pretty happy with myself....its kinda like riding a bike...after that first touchdown i was able to do it through any corner i wanted too as if it wasnt that big of a deal the whole time......
BUT THEN!
On my way home i took a cruise up the PCH and took mulhulland by the leo Carrillo campgrounds....was a nice little run until i was about half way up and i came into a corner a little hot....noticed that there was dirt all over he road and that this turn was a little tighter then i had planned....well...long story short....front end washed out...i went skidding....bike went grinding....and now ive got some expensive parts that will have to be thrown back on the bike before its ride-able again.... :( face shield shattered and the helmet is toast....think i have a mild concussion but looking at my helmet i should be grateful its only a slight concussion...lol but Like i told ryan im grateful that i took the advice of all you guys on here and bought full leathers....was the best investment ive made...besides this brain boo boo all i have are a tiny bit of pressure skin tears on my left knee and a bruised right shin.....so the leathers definitely saved my hide...literally! [thumbsup] so looks like ill be out of the game for a few months while i locate these parts and repaint the bike.... [bang]
Matt, I'm glad all my snobbery prompted you to get yourself leathers. ;D
Any get-off you can walk away from is lucky. [thumbsup] Glad you were able to ride the bike home.
If you need mirrors, I just found some that I had on my Monster way back when I first got it.
They're Napoleon short stalks.... Not the sexiest, but they'll do until you can get what you want...
You know what the best part of a crash is? You get to start modding the crap outta that thing now! [evil] [laugh]

I had some work to do today, so I didn't make it up there. I was there yesterday on my R6 though. I JUST bought it and it had haggard-ass Pilot Powers on it. I thought I could take it easy and just ride it to get used to a 600 supersport, but that turned into me wanting to set up the suspension, which turned into me pushing hard and seeing what the bike could do.
I lost the rear, lowsided into the dirt, rock through the radiator hose, fixed the bike up, rode it home, was 15 feet from my friend's house and got pulled over by CHP because the registration is expired. I was in full dirty leathers and the bike had obviously been down recently. I told him I knew the reg was up and I had just bought the bike. No problems, he checked my M1 and let me go, chatted me up about the plans for the bike, and went on his way.
Terrific. Haha.
I have no video or pics of the lowside (somehow). I rolled on the gas nice and steady and the rear spun up and stepped out because THESE TIRES ARE GARBAGE! so I just threw the bike away from me. Suit held up great (roo) and all my gear did great. Don't need to replace any of that stuff.
I'm not upset, I was re-doing the body anyways. I'm going to paint this bike all nuts to promote my design business. Showed the rendering to some cats and they love it and I'm designing their race bike liveries. F-ck those tires though. I can't wait for some Q2s or GPA pull-offs for it ASAP.

Ain't no thing. I slid on my left side, then rolled onto my back as I hit the runoff, somersaulted and landed on my feet. Did the "DAMN!" clap of the hands that apparently is standard practice in such cases and then my buddies picked up the bike and we went across the road to the shade to fix it. It was at THE spot on Mulholland, that last corner where everyone loses it (picture corner).
Like my friend said with his lowside.... "It was kinda fun."
Glad y'all are OK!!!! Dayum boys! Was it the strangely weird but gorgeous weather? Some strange juju out there this weekend.
I got out today after all. Visited Bacon Junkie who provided some tasty oil and water, but I couldn't persuade him to go out for a ride with me. Headed towards the Rock Store via 23, but there was a moto accident just above the turn-off to Sherwood LAke and the road was blocked while a tow truck winched the bike up the embankment. I asked the CHP officer there if it was an injury accident and he grimaced when he said yes. I turned around and headed over to Kanan. That juju again...
Cruised through the Store but didnt stop. Up the Snake and Encinal, then worked my way over to Little Sycamore and Yerba Buena to the coast. Gorgeous day.

Thanks for posting that up robert! i wouldnt have thought to look up Shera's pics....the ones i cant wait for are paul's...he got alot of good angle knee down shots a little later in the day! [thumbsup] ill post them when he gets them up!
I like Shera's pics. She moves around more and gets a lot of different angles. [thumbsup]
Oh, and buy pics from her! They are much more reasonable. She just asks for a donation of whatever you choose and then she sends you a couple of shots. If you specify a few that you like, give her a couple of bucks and she'll send them to you. I usually give her like $20-30 depending on how many or few pics I want. Compared to that money for 1 of Paul's pics...
So ive looked up all the parts that im going to need for the rebuild....without the repaint i think im looking at around 400$ which isnt bad....but i have to go back to the crash sight and see if i can find the glass cover to my speedometer :'( ....the tach and the speedo work still....but the housing was demolished! online i can buy the OEM housing for around 100$ ....the stupid shifter is 75$ by itself which is upsetting considering its just a piece of metal with a hole through it...but i was able to pick up a used 750 passenger peg for 11$ off line which is the same as the driver peg....i just have to use the original spring..which i still have [thumbsup] so hopefully when i cruise back to my scene of the crash today i can find that glass cover....if not a new speedometer is $400.00!!! which is CRAZY! :o
So after the rebuild...tank resurface and self-repaint i think ill be looking at around $600.00 assuming no other problems arise! [bang] <---this is funny because thats probably what my head looked like hitting the concrete yesterday!!! [laugh]
Good news! went back to the crash site....found the plexiglass speedo cover....so ill just have to use some epoxy to Frankenstein it back together [beer]
The funny thing is that i looked at where i actually went down and where i ended up....i originally thought that i only slid a couple of feet....now going there with a semi-cleared up head i found that where the original crash was and where i ended up was close to 40 yards! and where i finally stopped was about a foot and a half away from a 50ft drop off into the canyon! Not to mention the phone poll that was to the right of the crash about 10 yards....pretty happy i didnt hit that sucker! So Ryan i think you were right! That lucky Dollar really carried its weight in this get-off! [thumbsup]
Why I don't like a lot of other roads besides the Snake up there... they are filthy lately!
How weird is it that three out of the five posting on this thread went down this weekend!!??
I went down too, low side coming down from Big Bear! Went in to what I thought was a nice right hand sweeper but it tightened up. Since I thought it was just gonna be an easy turn I wasn't hanging off, I leaned past the edge of the tire and the rear washed out.
Nothing but cosmetic so that's good, oh and frame sliders really work!!
C'mon guys...
Be careful out there...
I'm glad I gave you a lucky dollar too, Sean. Like Matt, I gave you shit about getting gear and even loaned you a pair of boots, way back when. [laugh]
Glad everyone is safe! [thumbsup]
Maybe we can all get together and have a farewell ride for my 999 before I finally let her go to a new home...? :-\

Glad you is OK and the bike rash is minimal.
I dont have a lucky dollar, but back when I started riding again, my girlfriend gave me a "medicine bag" full of things that are supposed to keep the bad ju-ju away. It sits in the tool tray under the seat...perfect spot to protect my A$$!

Yeah, it kinda sucked. I thought for sure I had that corner!
The thought process went something like this, in about .003 seconds........
Man, I've got this corner nailed and I'm upright on the bike, felt my toe drag, realized I was over too far, turn got tighter, no time to adjust, realized I was gonna go down, went down, then Nirvana.
All cosmetic!

Matt, I'm thinking around $8200, but haven't really had the heart to put much thought into the sale. :-\ I
really really don't want to, but I gotta sell her. :'(
It's a Black 2005 999 BiPosto. That was the year they put the "S" motor in the base model. [evil] 140hp, but sooo smoooth! [drool] Termi Pipes... I just had the 12k service done at SB Ducati a coupla hundred miles ago. She had just gotten the 6k service when I picked her up at PJ's Ducati in Albuquerque the day after Thanksgiving last year.
There are two small cosmetic blemishes, but nothing too bad. It's got a clean title, which I have in my hand.
There's a brand new Bridgestone BT-003 on the front.
There's pics of her floating around on the board... I can post some more.
If someone wants to make me an offer, I'll consider anything in the ballpark... :-\
Anyway, back on topic. I might be out in Da 'Bu (or Boo) Saturday afternoon, possibly Sunday.

I just bought a photo from Shera. Yes, her prices are less than Paul's, but Paul does a lot of post-processing on his pics that add a little more value to the image. This is Shera's shot from last weekend.

IMO the Snake is an OK road surrounded by better roads in the 'boo
in the years ive been riding thru Malibu, only the northermost portion of Mullholand ( past Decker and on to PCH) has been dirty... seen a few go down there ( including the DMF Turkey Day ride)..
Is there recent washout?

+11tybillion...
Snake is way too crowded with too many doofus' on weekends... (IMHO)
I used to love doing laps after work on a Tuesday evening, though. [evil]
One time I was doing a slow speed scouting run and a county [leo] came up behind me. I was above the limit, but obviously not flogging it. At the bottom I pulled into the vacant Rock Store and he followed me in. I was on my Monster then and he dismounted and approached me. He was looking me/the bike up and down as I was taking off my helmet. I get my helmet off and he says to me, "Having fun?" I said something about enjoying a nice relaxing ride after work. He smiled and asked me if I was going back up. I replied, "Are you?" He says to me, "Yeah, alright... I'll lead..." I wasn't sure I'd heard him right until he was back on his BMW. I followed him at a "spirited" pace, but not insane. At the top he u-turned at the turnout. I flashed him a thumbsup and continued on to Kanan and headed home. I didn't want to push my luck... ;)

Rode up the 33 with some friends yesterday morning. Absurdly gorgeous day! Perfect weather and hardly anyone else on the road. Breakfast at The Place.
As we were getting ready to leave, the same group of Azzholez Bikerz Bichez I mentioned in a previous post went racing through Ventucopa...well over 100. Really made me wish I had a grader I could block the road with.
The weather has generally been a dickhead and can't decide what to do but I've been getting back into Snake runs the last few weeks. Went on a Friday and that was awesome! Weekends have been full of retards but I have no problem waiting out the "storm" and lapping when there is a lull in the idiocy. Or, hitting Encinal -> backside of Mulholland.
But I've been on the R6 mostly, the Duc staying for less spirited rides (weigh difference is pretty big).
Encinal is fun--need to make it a point to ride that more often.
I'm hoping to get some riding time in this weekend, but The Snake flat out makes me nervous on the weekend unless I get up early and am there before the crazies. I really need to burn some vacation days and hit The Snake on a Monday.
Well, I finally took a Monday off and had The Snake all to myself yesterday. For the first time since moving here, I actually enjoyed riding that stretch of road and was able to get some great runs in. The weather was glorious, the roads were empty and the bike felt like it was on rails. [Dolph]

Nice looking bike B!
The weather these past few weekends has been outstanding!! Rode some 500 miles over those days.
