so I apparently bought the wrong slider kit, as it does not fit my bike.
not a big deal, I'll just put the engine bolt/nut back. what do I torque it to? the slider kit's torque is 35(? sheet is out in the garage, not in front of me) ft-lb. so I'm guessing the stock one is close... but, it's also the wrong kit, so IDK.

dood...
aren't you a programmer...
in a machine shop?
Gimme some help. :P
If it's a 10mm thread 35 would suffice, but I believe Duc motor mount bolts are 12 mm so 65 would be more appropriate.

OK...
is it a 3/8 or 1/2 ish stud?
or .375 or .500 ish... :-*
ok... puck mount bolts are M10, and the engine bolt side is bigger, so it's 12?

yup...or I'd guess that's it because that is the size of the later bikes.
I'd go 65 lbs/ft
edit...
the torque value chart... http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=373.msg39052#msg39052 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=373.msg39052#msg39052)
shows 60 greased
shiny
thanks!

you coulda done that too. [laugh]
I had looked at it earlier, but since I had no clue if the newest bikes were different (seeing as how this set of sliders was made to fit a bunch of bikes and up to '09 hypers)

I have little clue also... ;)
but...
it's a Duc...
and it appears to have a 12mm mount bolt.
The value falls into the realm of reason based on industry standards.
What could go wrong?
According to the 796 ABS service manual, its 60 Nm +/- 10% for the Nut securing subframe/frame to engine
aww, make the beast with two backssticks! NM, not ft-lb.
I over torqued it

you sure?
did it break?
http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorque.aspx (http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorque.aspx)
didn't break it, but if it's supposed to be 60nm greased, the calculatron tell me that's ~44 lb
I set the wrench at 60 lb. it wasn't re-greased or anything, but I hadn't cleaned it off since removal. I had no idea there were seperate values for dry vs. lubed

The confusion lies...
where?

It didn't break...
take it apart and re-grease it and re-torque it.
You didn't exceed industry standard for that size fastener.
Calm down dood
it's just been that kind of day for me.... [roll]
