Title: Kindle touch
Post by: ab on September 30, 2011, 08:36:05 PM
Looking forward to kindle touch.

The kindle fire - ehhh not so much despite the attractive price.

Bigger screen kindle touch is sweeter if it comes out next.

What ur take on the new releases?

My fiance actually preordered me a Fire. I am looking forward to it because it will literally do everything I need it to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ebooks, occasional movie, music, and the assorted app (Angry Birds...duh.)

Hows that Kindle Touch?

My Wife just bought a Kindle Fire.  Looks pretty cool but I doubt I'll ever get my mits on it since she bought it to use for her grad program.

I bought my son a Kindle Fire for his birthday.  Currently he is reading two Tom Clancy novels (SEAL Team Six and Ghost Recon 2)  He's 10.

I don't know if its the convenience or the novelty........the kid is reading his arse off!

If you're wanting an e-ink kindle, get the original. The touch is kind of wonky...not nearly as smooth operating as the original. The fire is cool, but I'm not big on reading on the back lit screens.

We have a nook color, and it's okay for web browsing or reading magazines...but I've only finished one full book on it. My eyes would hurt after a while reading on it.

On thing most people make the mistake of when using a backlit tablet as an e-reader is they leave the stock black text on white background and with the brightness cranked anywhere north of 50%. I switched to black text on parchment background and set the brightness to its lowest setting and it takes quite a while before I experience eye fatigue.
