Meh...I don't believe anything those guys claim anymore.

They sold a set of Ti rods and pistons to a racer dude....told him the NCR markings wern't on the rods because "We had to stop production of a set of F1 rods for Torro Rosso to build these and didn't have time to mark them".  Probably sounded good to the guy, but I can't imagine the arrogance on claiming to make Ferrari's Ti rods for an F1 engine, let alone "stopping production" so they could re-tool to make a set of duc rods.

Thats like someone claiming they worked for NASA, and were in the middle of fabricating a critical component on the space shuttle....but they stopped building it mid-stream so they could cab up a cup holder for their prius.

It's pretty though....

The space shuttles could have used that cup holder. They were pretty sparse on the interior. Not even any 3M post it note pads. Lots of switches though. ;D

This one definitely deserves its own dedicated thread. It's nice to have it in the Misc. Italian thread too in case someone misses the dedicated thread.

Even if I weren't sending my daughter to Clemson this year, I still couldn't afford one.

Especially the $69.7K 132 HP, 278 lbs. model.  But if I could?  Yea, Hell yea!

i want to know more about the parts on the M4 One Shot (the one with 130+ hp on a 1200cc 2v).   For example, why is the oil cooler shaped that way?   Is the M4 One Shot's power "simply" a combination of the NCR Stroker Crank + Big Pistons/Cylinders, and their Cams/Valves?  It it reworked further?

I like its specs a lot but it would be hard to choose between the M4 / M4 One-Shot and the Pierobon F042 bikes with similar NCR engine bits... I mean, they are all very high priced and should be a bit lacking in comparison to the 1199 when doing a $/bike & hp/lb comparison - the new 1199 is alleged to have highest hp/lb ratio of any production bike ever made, a veritable rocket with steering.  And price-wise, is likely to be a tad less than the M4 One-Shot or a tricked-out Pierobon F042...  If I had several large piles of cash, it would be quite a decision to make...

it if it like the other NCR bikes, the crank and rods and pistons are all dynamically balanced, crank is lightened and polished.  they up the stroke as on the other bikes.   then they basicailly dremel out divots in the head to reduce weight -- like 2000 of them.

exactly.  i have some close-up pics of that New Blue, it was pretty interesting. Not all roudn divots, some are straight cuts but pretty much the entire head surface was done that way.

Fantastic.  This is the distilled essence of an air cooled motorcycle.  Lighten the bejesus out of it, and increase performance when possible.  Asphalt & Rubber must have their heads up their a$$es because 'only' 130hp in a sub-300 pound bike would be like riding a nuclear explosion.  Add 100-150lbs as the NCR designer said, and you then have current sportbike weight.

Crazy expensive?  Yes. Tour de force craftsmanship?  Certainly.  But for those of you not knowing who these are marketed towards, I have a local Ducati mechanic who purchased two New Blue NCRs when they were new.  Bought by his customers, sight unseen no questions asked.  I saw #12 or #13, it was outstanding.

I'd expect no less from the new bike.  Love it.

Then you are really looking at a tough call betwixt the NCR and the Pierobon:

vs.

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: junior varsity on October 12, 2011, 12:46:44 PM
similar concepts, but the NCR weighs less, makes more power, and of course: costs more.

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: zarn02 on October 12, 2011, 12:50:57 PM
I find the Milona to be the better looker.

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: junior varsity on October 12, 2011, 12:52:02 PM
more of a CR or Kaemna "short-CR" fairing on it than just the 916-esque front fairing only on the Pierobon.

perhaps a better comparison would be the street version of the Pierobon F042 with the NCR M4 / M4 One Shot:

vs

but again - NCR has higher end brakes, suspension, "more motor", less overall weight, and .... is more costly.

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: Triple J on October 12, 2011, 01:07:33 PM
If someone else is buying I want the NCR

If I'm buying I want the Pierobon  [laugh]

I'd love to have either  [thumbsup]

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: junior varsity on October 12, 2011, 01:23:07 PM
With what they can get out of a motor, I want an NCR Corse 1200 engine purty bad. I have contacted Mr. Ippoliti about pricing a "crate engine" (NCR built 1200cc 2V) for putting in my 2V SBK project.  I figure if I was going to build the motor out and was trying to budget and save for the 73mm stroke crank and 102mm cylinders/pistons (and having the cases machined) and obtaining everything else - it might not be much more to have it built to blueprint specs there and be able to bolt it up

Title: Re: NCR M4
Post by: junior varsity on October 12, 2011, 01:43:33 PM
Here's why I'm looking into it - a bit of perspective:

Ducati 996R (998cc Testastretta 4v race bike, limited production of 500):
    100kw(135 hp),
    101Nm(10.3kgm),
    407 lbs
NCR M4 One Shot (1200cc NCR Corse 2v engine):
    98-103kw(132-138hp),
    140Nm(14.3kgm),
    278 lbs

If you build something with the approach of "Who gives a good make the beast with two backs how much it costs?" then it's amazing the numbers and performance that can be achieved.

i wish they would do that for one season of motogp.  no weight limits, engine size configs, or anything at all.  just the stipulation that it has a to be a motorcycle and away you go.
