Title: Stators
Post by: Howley on October 12, 2011, 06:30:01 AM
So I think I need a new stator for my '94 M900. Are there any other models or years that are compatible?
Just to make sure;
1- I'm measuring 12v across the battery terminals with the engine idling at 13,000
2- I'm measuring 0.6ohms between the yellow stator wires. According to the manual, that means the stator is gone. Would y'all agree?

Thanks!

What voltage do you get at the battery with the engine turning 4000 rpm or so?

Unhook the stator, start the engine and check AC voltage across the two yellow wires.
Idle, 2000 rpm, 4000 rpm.
What do you get?

Yes, that would indicate a short in the windings, but do Speeddog's test anyway.  Easy enough.

Right, I'll try that. Ps. I obviously meant 1300 not 13000 rpm at idle!

When I read your initial post I thought maybe "idle" meant no-load in Oz.  As in revving it up to 13,000 rpm in neutral.   Disappointed that it was just a typo!

Missed that.
