Title: Full Arrow Exhaust system, starting problems
Post by: speed merchants on October 13, 2011, 04:51:14 PM
My bike, 2007 S2R 1000, full Arrow exhaust system, fat duc o2 manipulator. Just installed the Arrow  full exhaust system (amazing sound) but starting the bike seems problematic, I have to hold the throttle open a little bit until bike wams up enough for the bike to stay in idle with out it quiting. Once the bike has warmed up no problem and idles fine between 1100 to 1200. Any other member with vast more knowledge then I would greatly appreciate some suggestions.

What is the weather like where you are when you are warming it up?
You can use the fast idle lever to warm it up instead of holding the throttle open.

Temps have been in the 60s and 70s, is the problem running to lean or rich, could I adjust the fat duc to solve the problem.

The Fat Duck has no effect on cold start.  Is the stepper motor working?  What is the hot idle speed?

I'm having similar problems...(again)

2006 S2R 1000 with cored cans.... she ran lean  with the usual surging, popping and whatnot..

I installed the fatduc which is really a bandaid for the lean condition. The fatduc seemed to pretty much do what I needed it to do... until recently.

I started having frequent starting issues just as you describe.... Removed the fatduc and the issue has gotten much better, however i still have the same issue every now and then.

I'd guess that its the 02 sensor/ecu issue

My bike is about to turn 36k on the odo .

Ran the fatduc for about 12k miles. Not sure if theres a lifespan to the fatduc.

i would point the finger at the o2 sensor before anything.
