Greetings, long time Monster rider here with an odd problem. If I turn my bars say 45 degrees off of center to the right, motor turns off. Something electrical I'm guessing. If I turn them quickly back to the center, it will stutter a bit but keep on going.
Don't see any pinched wires or a wire being pulled on excessively, any ideas? Thank you.
Year & model?
On carbed Monsters,
the wiring often wears through at the steering steem,
causing shorts, intermittent contact etc giving symptoms you descibe.
also, did you change bars or clip-ons or anything like that?...the kill switch could be potentially relocated in just a weird enough angle to cause a crossed wire or something to that effect....
This guy had a similar issue. Lots of good advice here. http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=52675.msg967339#msg967339 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=52675.msg967339#msg967339)
Thanks. It's an '01 fuelie.
I have a set of Rizoma clip ons, but I've had them on for about 3 years, no issues whatsoever.
I will check out the other thread but I'll take a look for frayed wires.
Greenmonster has the likely cause. Wiggle the wires around the steering head while the bike is running to help you locate the area.
Thanks, I tried that, still can't find it. Maybe taking the headlight off would do let me find it.
