anyone have a good link for a bench engine stand?
i had a jig that i made to hold the case halves for assembly and it's broken now. i don't feel like repairing it.
alternatively, if you made one, post pics.
I found the one from Corsair, but they are never in stock. I think they make like 3 at a time.,

Anyone else out there?
That's pretty fancy.
You can make one out of a couple of pieces of pine and a piece of all-thread.
That's what I had. Want something a bit more permanent.
here's what I made...

just bandsawed and drilled some plate for the engine mounting, then made the legs/stand out of what was lying around..

nice, i like it. probably more than i have the ability to do right now.. i could probably cut the plates and weld them to some angle iron
very nice
the old school valve covers look good on that.. is that a 92-93 SS motor?
Someone sent me pics of their home made jobs:

I really like the rolling floor one -- it allows the operator to turn the engine on the stand...... And y'all know how I love Harbor Freight...

Thanks, dick.
I
did have plans, but they got scrapped as I just spent the last hour reading all 12 pages of your build thread.

Pretty much. [beer]
Nick Anglada has a simple one at a decent price.

you can't rotate it but it looks easy enough to bolt to a wheeled cart
i'm also pondering how i want to make my engine stand also. the only complaint about most of the engine stands that companies make is that there's not enough room under the engine for a oil and oil filter change. i know that it's stupid, but something to think about.
It might be a few more weeks, but I have drawings out to have plates/tube cut to make an engine stand. It will come either with feet, or casters. Plan is to have it somewhat modular as well.
The stand will support and engine at the approx height as a bike on a front/rear stand. The idea is you could support the entire bike and roll it into a corner/wall for storage, assemble the frame around the engine (for a build), and/or detach the legs and insert the cradle portion into a turning engine stand for assembling the case (turn it on it's side).
I'm expecting quotes back end of this coming week, and I should be able to quote a price at that time.

90 bucks for a piece of bent metal? kind of high for the functionality...

You mean like Termi's? ;D
Cycle Cat used to make a really good one, which left the frame bolts open for reassembling the bike. I ended up with Alex Ortner's prototype stand, bug I'm uncertain if they still offer them.

I started on my engine stand today. I bought all the material and roughly cutout the plates for the engine mounting. I should have it done this week.
My plan is to make one with interlacing legs on each side so that each half-case can be supported independently, but when you assemble them the legs wont be in eachothers way.
Finished everything up today

The perfect width.

On the bottom of the legs I put some sticker foam to keep for scratching the floor.
Looks Good.
Thats pretty much what I have in mind, except adding base legs onto each half so that it can be self-supporting
This worked fine for me:

+1.
Nice engine stand work area GM.
What project have you got there?
Talented friend made the stand, not my engine.
