Its a sad day when anyone in our motorcycling community dies, its also a tragic when a character like Simoncelli died doing what they love doing.
Mmick
Terrible, terrible news. RIP Marco. fkn heartbreaking for everyone involved. #58 :'(
yep, very very sad news!
RIP super sic...
Very sad man, it was one hell of a crash. Simoncelli was an awsome individual and equally so a sportsman. Very very sad.
Very sad event. Could see from Rossi's reaction it was bad news.
RIP
A colourful character, was Simoncelli,.......taking over from Rossi there i felt.........
I was on the phone to Rob S talking my usual shit when it happened....
Less than 30 minutes prior to the start I was watching Simo explainig a Moto GP bike and its workings...broken English and all made him even more likeable.......
A very sad day indeed..............
I am gutted. I loved that big haired galoot. I reckon he would have owned it in the 1000cc class next year. RIP bro. ride hard wherever you end up - You gave no quarter and expected none. RIP.
I dont recommend watching the replay. it's fked up. no one needs to see that.
A sad day indeed. We all love to ride and we all know the risks but any loss like this is still a tragedy.
RIP Marco. You brought us great enjoyment and you will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out for your family and friends.
Tears shed at my house today.
Horrible day for all .
So sad he will never live his potential
He was my favorite rider of the new generation.
RIP Marco .
I'm with you guys very sad, but I just can't bring myself to see the acco. :'(
Such a sad day, he was a star...
RIP MS
Terrible tragedy, thoughts are with his family at this time.
Great character, fantastic rider.
Huge loss
A brilliant career just blossoming, ending way too soon. Will be missed by many. RIP
He very obviously believed in the saying "Race Hard or go Home!" Sometimesw to his detriment,
but there was never any doubt of his ability and passion! [thumbsup]
Lost waaaay too soon! RIP Marco :( :o
its the same sickening feeling as senna.what an omen in that last interview where he clumsly describes his bike in sixty seconds
he finally points to the kill switch and says he is now turning off....R.I.P Marco.
Me and my gf are gutted... we got his autograph and took photos with him last week at Phillip Island. It hit us hard when we saw the accident and our hearts sunk... R.I.P SIC

Yeah bit strange. I was down the Island, waved to him in the BMW riders procession, watched him race...all just a week ago and now gone. RIP #58 Super Sic
:'( :'( :'(
Still feeling a bit ill (I was watching the race :'(). RIP Marco. A great loss to MotoGP.
The missus was explaining what a character he was at a BBQ several hours before the race, then we watched him talk about his bike. When I saw that his helmet was off his head I had a very sick feeling. I hang on till the end of the telecast only to hear the devastating news.
RIP Marco. Every one around the world is going to miss your charm and your hair!
Rob
A great character and great rider gone to that great big race track in the sky....
You will be greatly missed.....
RIP MC........ :'(
Watching that crash makes me sick to the stomach.. Sad day for the world I say. RIP.
A real character and the world is alittle emptier now.
I feel sick just remembering the footage on TV.
RIP Simo
It brings back the memory of Wayne Gardner hitting a rider (Italian I think) who ran back onto the track after binning it and having his helmet ripped clean off!
He survived luckily although took a while to get well again! :o
The vision makes my skin crawl!
Ciao Marco! :(
Has anyone heard how Colin is?? ???
horrible horrible horrible day. :'(
I've just watched this morning after not being able to bring myself to watch it last night while Annick was sitting beside me.
Watched until Gavin and Nick passed the news on, the emotion and devastation in their voices said it all.
We all just saw him larger than live here in Oz 7 days ago.
I hope Vale and Colin can recover from being involved in the acco, I know the Gardner acco took him a while to get right again.
Moto GP will never be the same.
RIP Sic #58
For those who dont know what I was talking about re Wayne Gardner and Franco Uncini at Assen! :o :o

Physically, Colin has a dislocated shoulder. God knows how he feels mentally, and Rossi, shattered I guess.
I'm wondering what the riders will do at the last round in Spain, I know they will observe a minute's silence, but will some riders pull the pin and not race?
Do you think Rossi will race? Or Stoner?

I was thinking the same thing. But would it be more of a tribute to ride than not too? I wouldn't be surprised if Rossi didn't race.
Bottom line is they all go racing with the full knowledge of the risks, and they have chosen this as their profession as well as their passion!
I can understand the blunting of the enthusiasm possibly (eg Soon to be Dad Stoner!) But they will assimilate the event and go on!
I think they should call off the last race of the season and have some sort of fitting tribute at the track. I couldnt imagine to many of the riders would be in a great frame of mind to race
The almighty Dollar [evil] will rear its ugly head, and the "Big Bucks" behind the sponsors, media, et al will not want to lose ANY INCOME from MotoGP so I
think the pressure will be on to race!! Doesnt mean individual riders might not race though!?
$$$ and business before emotion! ???
For the sponsors it's about the money, yes. But for the teams there are still positions to be decided and fans to be considered. I think it's a bit like getting back on the horse. The riders all know the dangers of the job they love doing. Putting off racing isn't going to change that.
If it wasn't so bloody cold and wet here today I would be out riding in remembrance.
the best way to remember marco is too do what he would want and ride for him , and make the next gp race in his honour and set up a memorial , thanks marco you put a smile on my dial and i went for a ride [bow_down] bazz
A terrible tragedy, and a great loss to the motorcycling world, he was a great character and a great racer. An "on the spot" tribute here . . .

I'm sure I'm not alone here, but it's been really difficulty to get over that crash.
The stark contrast between his effervescent personality and the grim stillness of the images immediately after impact.
In any case.
Great tribute from Jarno Trulli (via Mark Webber on Twitter)

Yes, I think about it a lot, and it makes me feel like crap. I think because he had such a great love of life that its particularly cruel. Also his age and so early in his career, you know if he was 34 yo or something, you could say at least he enjoyed a good 15years career .

And there it is at the top of the link page with Jarnos' helmet!! "Its up to you to reduce the risks!" Spokes.com.au T.A.C. Very tasteful.... NOT! [roll]
Nice tribute by Mr Schwantz...... Gave me a deeper insight into the man behind the hair..... A warning tho, it made me even sadder after reading it.

Yeah really sad, it shows how much he used past talent to get a handle on Moto GP of today.
I ordered one of these to put on my toolbox
Marco Simoncelli - Moto GP Car Sticker -Super Sic Honda #58- PROCEEDS TO CHARITY (260880889142) (//http://#58-%20PROCEEDS%20TO%20CHARITY%20(260880889142))

Yeah that's the right icon, you've gotta put the link between the brackets.
You can always just copy the link into the body of your post too.

Isn't that an internal sticker (to be seen through glass) ... might be backward on your toolbox.

At first glance Betty you are right, but if you read all you can ask for the same sticker to be glued the opposite way so you can put it on your toolbox (or something similar)
Still looks cool though IMO
Mmick
Cool ... didn't read every word, but didn't want you having an 'oh shit' moment when it arrived.
Interesting tweet from Lauren Vickers:
Sweet idea!! @Cormac46: @LaurenKVickers Lauren if you could RT this for Super Sic it would be sweet! http://backmarker-bikewriter.blogspot.com/2011/11/memorializing-simoncelli-in-way-hed.html?spref=tw (http://backmarker-bikewriter.blogspot.com/2011/11/memorializing-simoncelli-in-way-hed.html?spref=tw) #58

Just saw this as well.
I plan to have a little ride on Sunday somewhere, and now plan to stop and record a little vid of my monster revving in tribute to super sic..... I'm sure he'd approve of the modest tones from my humble little twin.

yeah +1 on the above [thumbsup]
Maybe we could make it a Bald Hill tribute?
That was what I was thinking, though someone was talking about a further tribute with a war painted GP bike as well!
I was already planning an RNP excursion on Sunday, so I will aim for Bald Hill in the morning. ( not that my exhaust note is much of a tribute, but its the thought that counts, right ? )
When I know something more concrete in terms of times etc, I'll post up.
Something has popped up for Sunday now!
Gotta help a sick friend with work, so I think I'll have to miss out :'(
