Title: Termignoni exhaust
Post by: Nero-92 on October 24, 2011, 05:07:03 AM
Anybody have any knowledge of shortening the termignoni cans does it make any difference to the power of the bike or were the power comes in I've heard it said that it reduces power but is this noticeable.

P.S this purely for looks but I wouldn't want a big drop in power.

As a general matter it will reduce power, especially at the higher rpms and make the bike louder.  I don't like the looks of short cans and haven't done before/after dynos of a monster with short cans so can't give you any hard numbers.  I think it will not be a dramatic change, though you may need to re-map the fuel injection to maintain optimal fueling after you cut up the exhaust.

there is no noticeable difference in power IMO.  I did it on my S4r and have had no issues.  I took 3 inches off to match the tail chop.  I simply hate the long exhaust Termi designs.  I'm sure if you lob off half the pipe then popping and sound might be an issue but frankly I think mine sounds just the same.  Here's a pic

I too have not noticed a drop in power.  But I have noticed that they  look wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better, and sound the way they should have in the first place.  Heck, I didn't think they sounded much better than stock when I first put em on to be honest.  Now she sings like a banshee with it's tits caught in blender!!!!

Just my 2 pennies.

Yea, I didn't notice any power difference either just a huge improvement in sound and looks.
Good luck!

Muskrat
Are those high mount Termi's I see? I've only seen the right side shot gun style.
Can you post a better pic of the exhaust?

Very nice Muskrat [drool]
I sold my Termi's cause I didn't really care for the shotgun look anymore
but this, this I like.

So,  where can I find the Marvin pipes? the Termi's I can get. This will give me something to do this winter.

Marvin mid pipe can be had from Jeff at Monsterparts.com
Post up picks when you guys are done.  I also re-cleared all the carbon with automotive clear because Termi resin sucks and fades fast.  three years and no fading.

you need a public website like photobucket to host them first.  Do you have one?
