Title: Bubble Inside My Tank!
Post by: Queestce on November 06, 2011, 04:15:33 AM
G'day all,

Was swapping out a fuel filter today and came across this unusual suspect...

Anyone seen anything similar? It seems kind of like a blister... Could only see that one in there, I just left it alone, but I wondered if anyone knew what might have caused this, or whether it might cause any issues? The bikes an 06 M620ie.

Would appreciate any advice!

Cheers,

Tk

I had a bunch of those on my wife's tank. Some of them were realy soft. You could push your thumb into them and they had some give. Some had a little liquid in them, which I assume was water. I chalked it up to the expanding tank syndrome  :D.

I got a replacement and I checked inside and didn't see bubbles in the new one before I coated it.

Hmm, I don't like the sound of this expanding tank syndrome. Did Ducati give you replacement? My bikes well out of warranty, considering its an 06 model, I assume they don't switch out fault tanks that old?... Cheers,

It is well worth a try to get your tank replaced by a dealer.   Your 2006 model came with an emmissions warranty covering the tank beyond the 2yr full warranty.

Appreciate the replies guys. My tank is not as yet visibly swollen, but if this bubble is the beginning then I'm most certainly going to look into having it replaced. Good to know where I stand in relation to the warranty side of things! As you mentioned Naked the bubble is indeed soft and "pushable". I think I'll give the dealership a ring and let them know about it, hopefully they will be receptive and just offer the swap it out. If a bubble infestation is on the way I want to avoid that for sure!  [thumbsup]
