Well, my clutch pack is almost at the end of its life again (got ~18,000 out of this pack)

any experience?

i have used barnett red plates before and they make the beast with two backsing blow chunks. they slip a lot.

anyone?

i rather just play it safe and pay the extra $150 for OEM packs.

I have Barnett plates.  Probably have 3K miles on them. I haven't had any problems, but then again I haven't had them that long. Next time I want to get one of those 48 tooth EVR setups.

im not a fan of the barnetts, i had a pack that would always slip and ended up giving them to someone else who had better luck with them in their bike (in dry texas weather instead of north east weather)

This is what I want to try next time my clutch basket wears out.

Have you see this thread?  Desmoworks is going to be offering a version with lighter, organic plates that will be less expensive soon.

thanks for reminding me about that thread i forgot about it.

at $500 for the sintered version, its too much, but im wondering how much the organic material will cost. if its $250-300 for a basket and friction plate, then thats a steal!

It looks like Monster Parts has this same EVR 48T clutch and basket kit for only $431.99.  It looks to be the same thing as what Mota-lab is offering just $47 less.  That is a pretty good price compared to the Barnetts clutch basket and plates which I believe I paid $414 ($189 for plates & 225 for billet aluminum clutch basket).  Monster Parts says that this EVR 48 tooth clutch pack increases the "lifespan 4 times compared to all other clutches available on the market, and reduces the noise significantly"

Dang, I'm ready to change my clutch now, but I guess I should hope for a long life out of my current one.  

yea im not so sure about 4 times. i think they got that number by saying that there are 12x4 = 48 teeth so the basket will last 4 times as long. not the friction material. but im sure the friction material lasts longer, just not sure by how much.

i have a 2 spare 12T barnett baskets with steel inserts so if i go for a stock 12T, i would just be paying for the clutch pack. but if EVR is offering an organic version that isnt crap at $half price of a sintered is defintely worth it.

i would just hate to have the organic pads shit on me within 2000 miles, the basket would be useless to me cause id have to drop a ton of money to keep buying their specail 48T packs.

Yeah, the 4 times the lifespan claim is pretty bold, but it would be worth a call to Monster Parts to try to find out what kind of results one can really expect. 

ill call him up and ask, but most peoples experience unless its heavy urban is irrelevant to me. ive heard people getting 40k out of stock packs, but ive managed to kill them as little as 5,000 miles. and then some of them are sensitive to water like hte barnetts that become a slushy mix when water looks at it.

but the low rattling sounds pretty good!

i like the oem ones.  had a barnett set in my old 900ss and it was really grabby.  swapped to a clutch pack taken out of my 749 and all was good. 

i had a 48t slipper clutch in the cheeto.  there was definitely less wear than with a 12t, but finding spares in an emergency could be an issue.
