Hi I it is commun for them to be niosey but it almost sounds like a dry clutch. Is this something i should be worried about?
there is always going to be some clutch noise, esp in neutral. but it depends on the severity though... i'd be pretty concerned if a wet clutch was as loud as a dry clutch. with stock pipes on a sf, you can easily hear the clutch in gear all the way through 1st. are you saying that it's that bad on your 796?
no you can barely hear it when accelerating in gear. but when i am stopped at a light it is really loud. it gets louder in neutral.

Mine was actually howling on occasion when hot, especially at low speeds. Disappeared with the first service at 900+ miles when my dealer changed the oil to Redline synthetic 15W50. How many miles on yours?
2300 miles
I have about the same amount of miles that you have (a little more) and I don't really notice noise from the clutch at all in neutral.
i'd say this is pretty normal but if you're worried you should bring it to the dealer since you should still be under warranty.
ya that is what i will be doing since i need to get my chain tightened for the third time.

mine does the same... just shy of 900 miles so far
i just got it back from the dealer. They told me it was a normal noise. on a side note the nut that holds the kick stand had disappeared.
I'd like to amend my original statement. Since purchasing a new helmet I've been clearly able to hear the clutch while in neutral. I think the acoustics are quite better now, and it was originally making me think I need to take the bike into the shop.
