Title: ducati superbike original MSRP? Post by: Privateer on November 19, 2011, 08:29:08 AM I was under the impression that today's superbikes (1098, 1198, 1199) have/had a lower MSRP than the bikes of yesteryear (916, 996, 998, 999, et al).

That is, inflation must be taken into account. If we had a list of MSRPs through the years we could run them through one of those handy dandy inflation calculators and see for ourselves.

Without looking it up, I recall that this was definitely the case with the 2007 1098 because the guys who bought 2005/06 99 bikes were complaining that the new design was cheaper than what they paid for thier bikes. It was Ducati's promotional way of trying to get owners/potential owners from the other manufacturers to come over to the Red-Side. The prices went back up in 2008, but not as high as previous bikes.However, i can't find anything to back that up.
