Title: handlebar placement
Post by: ZachDDill on December 03, 2011, 09:17:46 AM
Would it be more "sporty" to twist the handlebars forward or backwards?

Backwards.

Wrist angle changes and allows your elbows to be positioned down/in (like in roadracing)

You should also rotate your brake/clutch to ensure correct wrist angle (straight)

The sportiest are the handlebar fringe.

I heard Valentino Rossi has them on his bike.

I've tried that but I ran on some clearance issues.   The handlebar's risers hare not high in off to turn the bar all the way upside down or backward's.   Although it looks cool (cafe racer style ...)   I would say that's it's fairly dangerous because it minimized the turning radius to much.... up to the point that the bike was undrivable !!!    I've got some clipp-ons insted ...more safe     [thumbsup] [Dolph]

Now I just have to intall the "choke" esle where and finish up he upper tripple tree !!  ;D

why dont you use the stock choke cable assembly that mounts on the bar to the right of the headlight controls??  It will look much cleaner.

ideally both on a monster.    like above posts, you want them swept towards you for body position, but further in front of the bike and lower down for weight bias.    so as shown, clipons is the way to go for 'getting the most out of it'.

that said, you can be pretty sport on a standard Monster's setup if you get some on-track instruction.

I sent you a PM.  I've got a spare choke cable assembly. I could use your bar clamps, risers & bolts that mount to the top triple.  Let me know if you want to part with them.

I'm in Toronto, Canada.

thanks

Just in case you all didn't see the other threads. The kid that started this thread is gone. So if you all need, maybe open a new thread to continue the conversation.

Removing this won't bring Zach back.

He was a valuable member here. I think he should be remembered for that.

I will lock this though.

Someone can start a new one if they wish.
